You're right it's relatively cheap compared to today's prices.

But damn, that price is not very cheap for what it is.

Yeah even at 35k drive out seems absolutely insane for this truck that looks 12 years old already. 🤯

Our company bought 3 of these trucks with 3.6 pentastar, all 3 lost their rocker arms ( followers) at about 60, 000 mi. This is a very common with these engines called the PENTASTAR TICK. Repair cost was about $ 3500 each !

I’m glad to see that you’re buying something that’s not 80k, personally I like the base model trucks, the only thing I would add would be a V8 with a tow pkg, 3.91 limited slip or possibly a locking differential if I were buying it.

Welcome to the future where you can buy a $30, 000 truck for $40, 000! That said looking forward to you guys wheeling this thing!

This will be a fun series. I'll agree with the others that prices today are crazy. It seems everything has doubled except our pay.

Lost the rocker arms and camshafts in our 3.6 pentastar, a common problem with this engine

It is completely insane how much truck prices have gone up. In August of 2020, I bought a 2020 Ram 2500 4x4 Bighorn, single cab long bed with the 6.4 Hemi. Can't remember exactly what the sticker price was but I paid $39, 500 out the door for it here in Huntsville, Texas....Really looking forward to the build!!

That's a great looking $27K truck!

I think it's great that you finally got a truck that's the most affordable yet still practical for the working man. It will do most everything needed by the common man be it hunting, fishing, driving to work, grocery shopping, hauling bags of cement or blocks ect. None of those thing require going from zero to 60 in flash time. Real truck for real world use.

Although the cab size and engine of this truck are not things I would consider, I applaud you guys for getting a lower trim truck. Looking forward to this series!

A friend of mine in Oregon loves Peterson's. He has ordered multiple trucks for his fleet (tow truck/roadside service company) from them, even though they're 500 miles away.

$40, 000 for this is crazy! In 2016 I got a brand new F250 XL FX4 6.2L with quite a few options for $31k. Great video though, really enjoyed it. Unbelievable seeing the 9-22 build date, and the key and buttons from my 10 year old grand cherokee.

$40k for the cheapest? Isn't it not that many years ago that you could get a similar sized truck for under $30k? Good video, it's interesting to see more affordable trucks.

I love stuff like this. Everyone reviews the top trim constantly of every vehicle. Good to see inexpensive options

My dad has a similar one but older. I'm surprised at how little the interior has changed, and I kind of like that. His is an 09 base model 4x4 with the 4.7 V8. It's been a fantastic truck. The shorter wheelbase is a big plus for off-road situations. It makes it more enjoyable to drive too.

Oh how times have changed! In 2014 I purchased basically that same truck but with a quad cab a spray in bed liner and I got the dealer to throw in a cap out the door for $28k! It was honestly the best work truck I owned that got good gass milage and was relatively trouble free for a 151, 000 miles. I literally just traded it in for a slightly used 2020 Bighorn with with 5100 miles for an out the door price with my trade for $31k. I went used because to replace my old 2014 with basically the same thing today in 2022 would have cost in the mid $40k if you could even find one! Great video guys and look forward to the updates!

This is going to be gold. A truck that a average person might be able to afford new. I hope they do a payload test with a small slide in camper.

name for new truck: "Short comings" for being the smallest full size configuration regular cab shortbed not to mention with smallest engine option w/v6 naturally aspirated
