The way in which this woman is able to ask dangerously accurate questions without the blink of an eye is astonishing

This is utterly horrific. The top official in charge of children's welfare, when asked if she was a war criminal, answers stupidly that she is a mother, and that's the answer. Is she wholly ignorant of the fact that there were people who had given birth in their lives AND been tyrannical murderers? Just by her defensiveness, hubris, and dismissiveness, we can all see the truth of her role in this. May she receive justice for taking these young human beings.

This is the vice I fell in love with years ago. Access not given to other journalist, asking the hard questions, reporting on things others aren’t, and going into danger. I miss this side of vice and it’s nice to see it coming back little by little. Keep it up! ❤

"I am a mother" does NOT say everything. When you are committing vile actions, THAT is what says it all. I absolutely hate her. That laugh she did when asked if she was a war criminal was terrifying.

I live in Canada. My neighbours are Ukrainian refugees from Kupiansk. They have a 5 year old son. It's absolutely terrifying to think this could have happened to them. Thanks for this excellent and well-written story.

The Ukrainian girl that was afraid to say she considers herself as such, makes me very sad... I truly hope these war criminals get punished.

Fantastic journalism, the places you guys managed to get into to tell this story is seriously impressive. I hope the people responsible for this tragedy are held accountable.

Why’d she laugh like a super villain 💀

It is deeply distressing to witness Russia's flagrant disregard for human rights by illegally deporting Ukrainian children and separating them from their families. Such actions are nothing short of wickedness. Furthermore, Russia's continued funding of propaganda to paint itself as a hero, while acting as the true villain, only adds to their reprehensible behavior. These acts must be condemned as war crimes.

Taking a child away from their family is one of the most despicable things humanity can do. This will stain Russia for eternity.

The face of evil laughing at the idea stealing kids from their homes is perfectly fine and not at all criminal.

Thanks for this report. I'm from Bucharest, Romania and some of my neighbours are Ukrainians from Svatove in Luhansk region. The horrors they went through must've been unimaginable. Praying for Ukraine every day.

It's terrible to imagine that I could have been in one of these camps if my village had not been liberated from the Russians in March 2022. Thank you for this report, it is very important to let the world know the truth about the terrorist state.

This is one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen. There are no words.

I saw the abridged version of this story on NBC's broadcast tonight. It really hits different with a 20-minute segment directly interviewing the people involved, especially the ones currently inside Russia. You can tell from that foster mother and those kids at the camp that they know exactly what is going on and don't like it, but they have to walk on eggshells with everything they say lest the authorities come for them. "I won't answer that question" says everything you need to know. It feels like we're back in the USSR.

I am so pleased that this report has shown where a lot of the Ukraine children are. I sincerely hope that all the Ukraine children are returned to their families in Ukraine. This reporter did a wonderful job and I was so pleased that no harm came to her. Thank you for sharing this as it is extremely important to find the children.

I studied journalism for things like that. It is kinda hard to see that good materials like this one are becoming so hard to fund and produce. Kudos for Isobel and Vice once again.

11:50 how the first kid answered was litterally the way you would answer if someone would be holding a gun to your head. nightmarish

That woman who took in 12 children at $1, 000 EACH is no do-gooder AT ALL.

Your reporter was so professional and humane at the same time, hats off to her. I'm so glad that mom got her son home.
