This is still too generous. I once met an American who was surprised to hear that France and Germany share a border. She said she thought that France was 'like an island somewhere'

Lol! When my Ukrainian friend first came to America as an exchange student in East Tennessee, someone at school asked her if giraffes lived there… the only thing funnier was how my Ukrainian friend pronounces giraffe. Bless her heart.

For real. As a Latvian, I once told an America online where I was from and they thought Latvia was a state in Canada or sth. That's funny but alright, it's a tiny country on another continent, you don't have to know it. The best part was that when I explained that Latvia is a small country near the Baltic Sea in Europe, between Russia, Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania and Sweden on the other side of the sea, they asked me if it was far away.

As an American I can confirm that this is how we see Europe

That is fairly accurate in my experience as a Scottish person dealing with Americans.
Americans are surprised when the go to Spain and Italy and everyone is white. They expect Spanish people to look like Mexicans and Italians to either look like fake tan/ jet black hair New Jersey folks or out right Indian/ Pakistanis 😁😁😁

How Americans see Germany: Haha, they used to be Nazis.

How Germans see America: Haha, they still think they're good guys.

As an American, I'd like to thank you for turning that scary looking map thing into the Europe that I'm comfortably familiar with! I was foaming at the mouth, barking, and doing back flips in utter confusion, until I recognized what I was looking at by the end!
