Yeah, I think I fried my fan LEDs by plugging them into a MSI 12V header (poorly labeled). So pissed, but at least the fans spin up and work. I'll live with it for now.

Yeah I fried my LEDs of my front fans... This needs to be talked about more in the PC building community

I see a 3 pin black header next to the black 4 pin labelled D-LED and the motherboard website says it’s for addressable LED’s, can I plug my fans into there?

Yep, ive blown the LED's yesterday because connected the ARGB 3 pins to 4 pin connector, the LEDs are dead but the fans working. :(

Funny this gets recommended to me the day after I fry my board in almost the same way. PSU that was released in 2023 for some unknown reason had a FDD connector (yes, floppy drive) coming off the molex cable and since the molex cables were connected to the fans, I assumed the FDD connector was a fan connector since they look similar enough. Plugged it into a fan header and now the board is dead.

Dude I just built a PC after 15 years of not doing so... back then everything was powered via Molex or SATA... I did connect a 3-pin into a 4-pin, but thank god nothing died... I guess maybe the RGB leds died a little? I will be more careful next time! This video is GOATED!

Maybe a dumb question, but I am trying to connect my addressable rgb led lights together. Does it matter if the pins for the light strip are in this order (+5V, N/A, D, GND) instead of (+5V, D, N/A, GND) ?

So never connect a 3 pin to a 4 pin…

Uhhh ohhh… 😬

I plugged that thing into the regular spot but connected to it was another cord that was also 3 pin but without that missing one and it fried that cables but my fans work and they still have light so I got lucky

If you don’t know what a grounder is, it’s basically something that keeps said cable in place.

My motherboard doesn't have any rgb headers. Do you know any other ways that I can get rgb on my fans?

I have connected the 3 pin of the fans correctly to the argb header. Fans supports aurasync as advertised. But aurasync and signal rgb software doesn't detect the fans. I can't change the rgb color.
