Both Mathew and Luke trace Jesus’ bloodline to Joseph. If the Messiah is descended from the “house of David” then it would have to come from Joseph not Mary. The Quran refers to Mary mother of Jesus as “sister of Aron” because Jesus is descended from TWO royal bloodlines: the Aaronic Levitical Priesthood through his mother Mary and the house of David through Joseph. This is verified in the Book of Luke chapter 1:5.
In the time of Herod king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. (Lk1:5)

So, both Elizabeth and Mary are “daughters of Aaron”. Also the Old Testament makes reference to this Levitical lineage in Psalms 133:2

1Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
