Stop Firing Your Hips and You Will RIP THE COVER OFF the Ball - It's Extremely Powerful!

If you've been told to start the downswing by turning your hips, you could be losing distance and accuracy with all you clubs. Today we're looking at a new golf swing concept that's way more powerful and accurate than the traditional golf swing "fire your hips" concept.

Do the hips fire in the golf swing? Yes, they do BUT only at the right time. If you fire them too soon, you run the risk of losing distance and accuracy.

Why oh why did I stray and watch some other channels? Cleared out my saved videos and felt the power and accuracy return to my swing after only 2 Saguto vids. Thanks for saving my season Tom!

Your videos are gold dust! At 58 I am playing the best golf of my life, 7 handicap and confident of going lower. Thanks!

This is why I follow Saguto Golf...I will never forget my "hips are accessories to murdering the golf ball"...straight gold.

Hey Tom I'm the guy with the quantum-laser coordination who read one too many golf tip books and subsequently fires the hips early, launches the back heel early, stands up on it early, and saves it with pure hand-eye sorcery. I can't wait to try this and finally breakthrough the handicap of 3 that I've been stonewalled at for years, and years, (and years). Thanks again pal! ⛳

This tip helped me shoot a 78 last weekend! Very similar feel to Sergio Garcia’s ring the bell tip. Weight forward, left arm straight, and arms/shoulders first. Hard to miss, but misses still fly straight. I was a Saguto golf student before and learned a ton! Thanks, Tom.

I was early extending and tried everything. I started quieting my hips and controlled the swing with hands, arms, and shoulders. The results have been excellent. Great video!

Tom, big fan of your videos. They are extremely helpful and to the point. This right here is something that I have been fighting for almost a year now on the course. I made some changes with my swing after being led to believe that initiating with the hips for both the back and the down were the way to go. I’ve lost so much distance from the driver down to the 43 and could never figure out why until now. So much momentum lost before connecting with the ball, as well as swaying off the ball with the hips led backswing. This video made so much sense, and I really cannot wait to try this tip out. Thanks again and keep up the great work with these videos. Best.

Wow, Mr. Saguto has stabbed another golf myth right in the heart! Again, here I was following all those old golf mantras, including leading with the hips, with nothing but inconsistent ball contact, and left to scratching my head wondering why I couldn't hit good shots. Tom to the rescue once again!

I started doing this on my driver swing literally just having the swing thought of just using my shoulders and then letting my hips follow and for me at least it’s been amazing results of a lot straighter and way more easy distance.

Tom, I’ve been learning from you on your website and Youtube before that. I started golfing 3-1/4 years ago and went from a 30 to 8.9 handicap in 2 years. I am now at a 10 secondary to more work and little practice/play.

My best friend and golfing buddy asked me how I improved so rapidly and I referred him to your website and he has already noticed much improved contact and low point control making golf more fun.

I am certain I have room for improvement to a low single handicap player with in-person lessons. I have got as much as I can from your website. I am not a V1 fan. Is there any way to get a few in-person lessons over the course of a few days? I read on your website you’re not giving any new player lessons. I live in Virginia. Thanks again Tom you rock!

Thank you for bringing me from the desert to the land of milk and honey.

-Chris

I read an article years ago in Golf magazine about dropping the club into the “slot” and have been slinging my hips around ever since. Thank you for this!

A very "thought provoking" video Tom! I like your idea of the shoulders and arms being the primary influence in moving the club powerfully through the golf ball and the hips are an accessory!!! At one time, this is the move I had and then for some reason my concentration went to the hips and erratic ball striking! Thanks for the reminder Tom!

This thought at 7.20 of the video has been a game changer for me. I was constantly coming over the top and this move has stopped it immediately! I think of my back to the target as long as possible as well. You are a genius Tom! Thanks so much John

Thank you. This is all making sense now. I can keep my trail foot down till impact and it kind of just rolls. I was hitting blocks, shanks, and everything in between; and i was firing hips first. This is a godsend for real.👍👍

Another great video. I’ve always been a left arm puller in the downswing. Guess who else was an admitted left arm puller? Moe Norman! He was a pretty good ball striker too! He said the right arm just goes along for the ride. If you have a little athleticism you can eventually learn how to coordinate the shoulders and hips in the downswing. I’m guilty of early extension like most amateurs are but it’s ok. It’s just golf and I enjoy it and I can still break 80 at times. 12 years ago I broke 70 several times but was much healthier and not as stiff. I’m 60 now. The golf swing takes what 1 second? How do you have time to think about pushing into the left hip, squatting, turning, pulling the left hip up?? I don’t think my body could ever learn to do this at my age without hurting my back even more. If you’re 8-9 yrs old then you have the agility for the body to memorize this move and then you will have it for a lifetime but older guys? Hang it up. True believer in letting the shoulders dictate the downswing.

Thank you Tom!! Your video really shows the result of just turning the hips.  No one, and I mean no one has ever mentioned this to me during all the lessons I took over the years.
I think back to all the times I pulled a ball with different clubs or sliced with a driver and this was more than likely one of the main causes. I couldn't figure it out. One of my golf buddies (low single digit index) kept saying in to out but I couldn't get constant with it.
I tried what you mentioned on 2 different golf simulators and the result was exactly as you described. Even the arm and club positions were exactly as described / shown. The slight "bump" or forward push was the answer.  Funny thing, never saw this mentioned on TV or here in YouTube either.
Thank you again!!

Hi Tom, excellent video like all the rest but I slowed down your slowed down front view and at the top of your swing your hips moved forward which then initiated your shoulders not the other way around? But no, they didn't rotate at the beginning, just moved forward. Wonderful to watch you hit a ball.

Awesome teaching, Tom!
Yep, hip domination is a killer - as you know from my own 2019 wanderings in the desolate desert of Golf torment. You’re absolutely correct and thank you for setting things straight.💪🏼✌🏼
