Ive been using Freeform a little bit while on FaceTime calls with my daughter who lives in another state, i have been using it to help her with her math homework, and I’m excited for when she can update to 16.2 so we can do some work in the same document while on FaceTime together

I’m a fully remote employee and to have a way to have real time interactions with fellow employees without having to deal with emails and texts is reason enough to be enthusiastic about the app.

While I have been trying to use Freeform, I have also come across two other very similar infinite canvas apps - Milanote and Muse. I'd say Freeform has the most "nature" experience whereas the other two need some time to adapt. But I really love some of the templates Milanote has to showcase how writers (especially novel writers) can use it to develop settings, outlines, characters, etc. I'd really like to see Apple gives more features to Freeform like folder, tag, or even maybe nested board instead of promoting it only as a "collaboration whiteboard"

I have lots of questions.☺️
1- Can we add tables? With all table functions?
2-Is this limited to only apple users? Can we collaborate with windows users and work together on this tool ?
3- Can we edit PDFs in it draw on pdf pages? Is it changing the resulotion during import?
4-What about export/printing the white board? What are the options?
Thanks for the video 👏🏻

I'm interested in figuring out if Freeform could be used as a note-taking app with the pencil and text intermixed similar to how you might use Notability or Goodnotes but in the basic sense of their capabilities. I know they both have more features for templates, pages, recording audio, etc, but if all I want to do is go into a meeting and handwrite some notes on an infinite canvas, potentially drawing/doodling ideas during a meeting, and even typing or going back and typing some notes, would that be a good use case for freeform? Apple Notes feels too linear and I don't think I've figured out how to put handwritten notes next to typed notes.

This is a great tool for us UX/UI designers.

Great video. I'm still a little confused by why Apple developed this app. It's pretty neat, but it doesn't do anything that other third party apps couldn't already do. I would prefer to see these features added to their Notes app instead having separate apps for notes and mind maps.

I've just tried the app and I'm really impressed by the interface and usability of the app. This can be really good for personal use, but for professional collaboration with other people I'd spend my time using tools dedicated to that with offer of templates for specific use cases and facilitator specific features (Mural for example which I use at work and it's really good)

The infinite canvas is a cool thing.
For game devs, to make level prototyping is very nice.

This might work perfectly when researching for a blog post. Easy to add links (with notes) and then rearrange when figuring out how you're going to write the post. I usually write out an outline and the go an get the notes I've already collected (in stand alone docs), but with this I can have it all there (because of the link features and the infinite canvas). Seems like the perfect app.... :)

I've used OneNote for a while, and am wondering what the difference is between this and OneNote's capabilities. Perhaps the real-time collaboration stuff?

Desperate to get my hands on Freeform (waiting for IPADOS 16.2 public release). Hoping not much longer to wait. Enjoyed the video Christopher, keep up the great work! 👍🙏

I just got a universal stylus that work on iPhone as well. This is a convenient time to have that stuff. Can’t wait to try it.

So i found this app really useful and was using it a lot until i recently updated my ipad and now ive lost the ability to the infinite canvas which was the biggest reason i started using this app.

Not sure why this has happened but its a real shame and hopefully the next update will fix this problem

Chris, love your videos! I want to share concerns I have with Freeform from a recent experience. I’ve only been using it for 10 days, and was very excited about its potential. However, it soon stopped syncing and after several hours speaking to Apple support resetting this and that, I lost 90% of my data. I was told that the ‘Creative Services’ dept are the ultimate experts on Freeform, but so far they have been unable to fix or explain the problem. They also told me that in order for the app to work you must not work on the app in sessions less than 15 mins? Freeform would be such a useful tool for me, but I don’t know if I can trust it? Any thoughts?

I was really exciting and looking forward to Freeform, but then Obsidian launched Obsidian Canvas (early release at this stage), which is probably even better, at least, for my needs. Oh, to be spoilt for choice! No more paying for subscriptions services, such as Milanote.

It lacks of containers like Muse, adding that feature and it'll perfect
