In this video i show you how i (a small independent car dealer) deals with that classic car park injury - paint damage to the edge of a door.

This is a super quick, easy and cost effective fix that will improve the look of your car immediately. Whether you're selling your pride & joy or simply want to tidy up the look of your daily - this one is for you!
When cars are of a certain age and their value drops, it's in the dealer's best interest to keep overheads as low as possible so fixes like this make perfect sense because they are cost effective without compromising the overall look of the car!

Thanks for the video, I managed to crunch my MGC's door against a wall during lockdown, 2 months after a full re-spray and I was gutted, my local bodyshop quoted £120.00 to touch it up but I bit the bullet after watching this and did it myself for £20.00 after buying supplies. I cannot tell where the damage was and I am generally hopeless at things like this and all thanks to you clear and concise instructions. New subscription from me fella and my thanks..

This is great. Thanks for posting. Four months ago I bought a BMW X3 with 9K miles. A repair has been done on the door edge and I can see the skill you show us here has not been used. I'm taking it back to the dealer this week a wiser man. Thanks again.

Thanks for the video. If it’s just a very minor chip on clear coat, should I just use the clear coat paint ?

My missus opened my door on another car in a car park so I’m going to have to do quite a large chip on the edge. I don’t see the point in ‘roughing up’ the surrounding area if it’s not going to be painted. I’m going to clean it, primer it and infill it with paint so it’s slightly proud. This will need several coats as it shrinks back as it dries. If your paint has clear coat you should be able to to T-cut your repair back level with the existing paint, as your new paint will be softer

At the 2:45 mark, you say "As this is a door edge, I've been super grit sandpaper"
Can someone please help me fill in the blank? I can't make it out!

So no need for clear coat, just pure paint right?

Doesn't that sanding ruin the clear coat on the surrounding paint?
