@mgthaking You could sand the surface with 180 grit and skim the whole panel. Just make sure the surface is sanded with 180 forst.

Well after that area is blocked out though, I dont think you are ready for primer and paint because don't you have to scuff that entire panel to get it ready for clearcoat?

well if im correct, which i believe i am, u will want to turn ur da the opposite direction when sanding so close to that body line. dont want to cause any not needed work for yourself, and thats an easy way to cut that edge through the clear.

Ok thanks. If I sand it back down from the 180 to apply the spot putty to 400 to 600 do I still have to primer the spot or can I just paint?

Why didn't he apply guide coat on the spot before he started cross sanding?  Without the dark contrasting color how would you know you had glazed it enough or sanded the area perfectly?  It wouldn't have taken any more time with the dry wipe on stuff...

lol, pretty sure if your going to mud, prime, seal and paint ya wanna go a bit deeper than just a quick scuff!
