The fact that The Collector doesn't understand death to mortals and how he just thinks she just "Broke" or "Disappeared" really shows how innocent he was when for all this time I thought he was a bad guy just like Belos.... I was just like Eda and King-- frozen and unable to move. I felt flashbacks to when Eda sacrificed herself (Used up all her magic and let her Curse overtake her.) to save Luz and now Luz did the same for The Collector. :'''(

fun fact: belos is the only disney villain even in the disney canon, to kill the protagonist (even if temporarily) usually its just the protagonist eroding themselves

Of all the reactions to this scene that people have been wishing for, I’m surprised no one talks about the fact that we never get to see Belos’ reaction. He has stated before that he wants the “best” for Luz, but he kills her just like he kills Caleb. He was right there too, but we don’t even get to see his facial expression change

It wasn't just Luz's death that was impactful; it was also the after-effects. Eda and King started mindlessly attacking Belos, driven by rage and grief. The Hexsquad remained clueless about what had just happened and who they had just lost. Even while in puppet form, Camila started shedding tears, most likely sensing that something had happened to her daughter. And the Collector. I started tearing up the most when the Collector finally realized what death was truly like for mortals, that Luz was really gone, and there was nothing he could do about it. Thank goodness that Luz didn't actually die😭😭😭

I can’t even describe the way my stomach dropped when Luz said, ‘I think it missed me, ’ and then the look of realisation on her face. I was stunned. Very few moments have hit me like that, but Amity’s confusion made it even worse. None of them knew--of course they didn’t. But the thought that she was unknowingly holding her girlfriend was absolutely heartbreaking. I can’t help but wonder if Luz ever told Amity later on.

I really like how, despite Luz coming back to life later, she's dead for long enough to actually make an impact. Not only on the characters present, but also on the audience. I feel like kids' shows often pull a "jk, they're actually alive!" a couple seconds after someone important (which is usually not the main character) dies or they just move on very quickly; but in TOH, there was enough time for the realization of Luz' death to set in and for the feeling to linger.
