You can clearly see Amity having an ‘Oh my god’ moment while her heart is breaking for her girlfriend

reminder: Dana has said she loves to tell her own story through Luz.
Dana's father passed away in a car crash when she was 11
I can't help but feel this is one of the times she's using Luz's story as her own and it's really bittersweet

"Its not a big deal, "
"It happened a while ago, "
"It's not an excuse, "
Girl, you're singing the trauma song loud and clear

It hurts more when you realize how much she’s trying to invalidate her own feelings by saying “it happened long ago” and “it’s not an issue anymore”

When she says “I don’t have any flowers…” and her voice slowly starts to crack the more she talks…

What sells this scene for me is:
1: Luz's inability to look at Amity while talking about her dad passing. A clear sign that she is lying/avoiding the truth of how she feels, when you are emotional and trying o hide it avoiding someone's gaze is the 1st thing you do because it is so much harder to hide the feelings when you look at them in the eye or even just them.

2: Amity's realization of just how much pain Luz has been in and how much of it she has been hiding. Not just about missing her father, but also about just being away from home and her mother for so long. Amity is probably wondering how much pain and fear has Luz been hiding.

It’s the horror in Amity’s eyes that sells it. The full realization of what sort of weight and pain Luz is going through, how the unshakable girl she loves is shaken by this; knowing that the calm is a front and there’s so little she can do to let her know it’s okay to be hurt.

I love, I absolutely LOVE how Amity isn't angry, she's just really really worried for her.
like seriously
I swear, they have the healthiest relationship I have EVER seen

the way she just says "it was such a long time ago, it doesn't effect me anymore" when that is CLEARLY not the case?

ouch, that just hits me in the core in so many different ways

It hurts to lose someone doesn’t it? That “It happened so long ago, it doesn’t affect anymore” hit way too close to home… it’s strange to miss someone I barely knew right?

I really liked this tree, I liked to call it the Lumity tree. This scene also reminds me of that comic strip of Amity frustrated about Luz keeping secrets, but then coming clean really brought them together. I’m also noticing the episode is more father related then mothers.

I love how Luz immediately says "that's not an excuse for what I did..." A perfect way to show kids how tall about your feelings, and own up to how your actions hurt others! God I wish this kind of mentality was taught to all the toxic parents and the children unlucky enough to be born to them. See kids, trauma can be the reason why someone did something bad, but it's not a reason to excuse the bad behavior!

Jesus, this just…..wow…..I personally can’t understand the pain she’s dealing with but….Luz is really depressed here and she’s trying to hide it. Never seen her like this, and I just wanna hug her😔

Luz is the definition of "The happiest smile, can sometimes hide the saddest thing"

I lost my dad several years ago. Every month, we would get flowers and visit him. This hit me hard when I learned about what happened to Luz’s dad and I related to it a lot….

I'm noticing that the father-child relationship is becoming a recurring theme in this season. We've got King trying to reunite with his father, Eda having an awkward talk with her father after years of guilt over scarring him, Amity struggling to get along with Alador, the whole bombshell with Luz's dad being deceased, and Hunter possibly finding a father figure in Darius seeing as how Belos seems to be doing a terrible job. Also, I just learned today that Dana Terrace's father died in a car accident when she was 11. I imagine that this season must be very personal for her, I can only imagine what it's like to lose a parent.

The fact she just dismisses this HUGE burden she's dealing with, like it's nothing. This girls clearly been through tons of bullying and it shows

What I like about this scene is how it demonstrates how to have a healthy discussion with someone you love when they mess up. Even though Amity is hurt and frustrated with Luz, she's very respectful and just wants to understand what's going on; and while Luz has her reasons for what she did, she doesn't try to use them as an excuse for her behavior, and she apologizes.
PROPER COMMUNICATION.

This was so sad, but so well animated. I can't, I am crying and I didn't think I was gonna. OMGGGG, DANA WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!!

This also adds another layer on Camila's character. Her husband died to some unknown cause (possibly a car accident, if Dana Terrace's history is added to Luz's; her dad died when she was young too), and now Luz, her only daughter, is stuck in another world where quite a few inhabitants would literally chew you up and spit you out!

I can't imagine how Camila feels.
