Reworking any electrical circuit isn’t a race, it’s‘do it ’properly and safely’.

Electrician here it’s under my strong advice to not use those. I have replaced 3 in the last month doses not hold up to load rating. lose connection equals heat . Don’t use them the old way is best . Just my advice .

Ive been an electrician for 69 years. I love this install because i can now come out and charge 200$ to fix this. Carry on.

Seems all the electricians recommend wrapping the screw. I’ll take the time and continue wrapping it.

Gotta love the comment section full of electricians who hate the fact that everything is becoming more diy friendly and there is nothing they can do about it. Plumbers hating on pex is the same exact thing 🤣

I was walking on the street one day and there was a wire dangling off of the side of a building under renovation. I reached up and pushed it out the way of my face. A very nice gentleman, who I've never seen again said, don't ever touch a dangling wire, you don't know if it's live. I've been holding onto that wisdom all my life.

Looking at the comments here where the majority say don't use these sockets, is good enough for me. An electrician who is excellent at his trade, can strip a wire. Wrap it around a screw and put the assembly back in the wall before you can say it. Thanks fellas! 👍

You've hooked the screw your whole life for a reason. The 30 extra seconds of work is well worth the effort.

As an industrial electrician, I dread working on equipment with those type connectors. I can not recommend them.
One thing I learned is, good physical connection is crucial.

I hardly trust those connections on my stereo amplifier, Never mind on a outlet lmao

Don’t use these. I’ve seen where this method was used and the wires became loose over time due to heat cycle of current flow. This can and will cause a fire. Use the loop methods only. It gives more surface contact area and can be tightened properly.

I've replaced plugs on lamps in a similar fashion for over 20 years. The electrician wants $85.** to just come see 'what needs to be done.' I'm a 73 year old widow, money is tight. With this video, a trip to Ace & I think I can do this for the 2 the bad plugs myself for less than $10.**
Thank you for the video.

Perfect case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." This doesn't look like it will last

I've been an electrician for 35 years and I would STRONGLY recommend not doing this.

This will be one of those things years down the line that people will say “cant believe people in the 20s used this stuff its junk!” And have to redo every single one in houses

You should wire nut the feed wires together with a tail for each so the load of everything further down the circuit isn’t passing through your outlets, only what is plugged into that specific outlet.

Two words
The first word is for the device, and that word is garbage
The second word is for workmanship having a device as an integral part of a circuit and that word is shoddy
