Would you want to see a Starship space station? How can this concept be expanded? What are your wildest thoughts?

Last time I was this early Falcon 1 was the king of the block. Hello Felix.

0:59: ❄ Starship 25 undergoes frosty tanking test at the suborbital launch site.
3:33: 🚀 A spin prime is a simple engine test where the Raptor turbo pumps whirl up without starting the engine, and a white cloud is released if the test is successful.
6:32: 🚀 Significant progress has been made in the construction of Mega Bay 1 and 2, SpaceX's Starfactory, and the potential relocation of the Ground Fabrication Building, while NASA's CSC-2 initiative brings the idea of a Starship-derived space station closer to reality.
10:12: 🚀 NASA believes that by cooperating with SpaceX, they can develop a comprehensive ecosystem revolving around Dragon, Starlink, and Starship, which could potentially generate significant revenue for SpaceX.
13:45: 🚀 The trend towards reusability in the space industry is evident with companies like Stoke Space and Rocket Lab making advancements in reusable technology.
16:46: 🚀 Rocket Lab introduces a suborbital rocket with various applications, while Arianespace faces a launch delay for Ariane 5 retirement.
20:18: 🕒 The video ends with an alarm beeping and a mention of June 15th.

Of all the amazing things SpaceX does, I'm still super impressed with them disassembling a building and rebuilding it down the road like it's giant lego.

stoke's engine design is interesting. I hope the heat shield idea works out, the less turn around time the better.

Absolutely unprecedented work pace when it comes to rocketry. I'm in awe.

Given the unique names of their landing drone ships, I think an appropriate name for their space station should simply be.. "That's no Moon"

Great episode! I really liked the part about using Starship as a space station! Very exciting possibilities! Coverage of Stoke space and Rocket Lab was great as well. Both are going to provide lots of excitement in the near future

I hope the water deluge system does not turn into a steam bomb - and it does not destroy the fully fuelled stack.

I feel a little sorry for Ariane. Apparently version 6 is still fully expendable. It is going to be increasingly difficult to compete on price without some reusability. Hopefully 7 is in the pipeline..

they are finally getting out of beta starship phases into a working ship concept

After being used to NASA and their working timeframe I’m continually amazed by SpaceX. It’s quite breathtaking what they’ve achieved so quickly.

form about 20 Starships connected to a small ring with their nosetips. Looks like a giant shuriken star, would be a nice and realtively cheap space station for the first years. And if you need more space... fly up some additional Starships. One is damaged, deconnect, de-orbit and replace by a new one.
Rotate the whole thing and you get a nice artificial gravity too.

Felix, 2 comments. 1) Regarding Stoke Space; if you don't already know, their rocket is heavily based on concepts developed by Philip Bono for Douglas Aircraft 60 years ago. ROMBUS, Pegasus/Icarus, and others. It is a great design that can be scaled up or down greatly and I'm glad the StokesFolks (yeah, that is a terrible joke in English) are finally developing it. I wish them well!

2) I saw the potential for a Starship based space station as soon as I saw the Ship design and modularity of the ring construction. How about a "wet lab" station? A small habitation module with a cargo bay full of gear that a crew could use to outfit the methane and oxygen tanks for a much bigger habitation. Or service bay. Or factory...the list is endless. I'm more excited for our future in space than I have been for over 40 years!
