Wow, that's pretty Falcon reliable.

It won't be a decade before Falcon9 retires. There are plenty of ways for Starship to avoid having to prove "flip and burn landing" safe. I mean, a pretty brute force fallback is a modified Starship that has the top 4m-ish chopped and replaced with an actual Dragon. First, this is a built-in crew escape now. And then also a way for the crew to get back. Not by Ship acting as a Stage Two for ascent, but to separate Dragon after pushing through the high-altitude plasma on the way _back_. Then Dragon can land as a Dragon does. And Starship (minus nosecone) can do the flip-and-burn.
