You can tell people dont understand at all what he's trying to say. Hes saying that if you play a champ like Jayce that needs a lot of resources to be worth it, you better be able to close the game out. You can't go into a pro game and be like "Well I did my part". Like, bro, youre playing a champ that needs help and as a result you are actively taking help away from other parts of the map. You need to pay back those dividends or dont play the champ.

As a top laner I agree to some extent but i feel that is the difference of west vs east, I if you dont have the mentality to have that strategy and executed good and winning the game, even when there are bad games the courage to see you partners eyes and try it again is what wins worlds, this mentality is the difference also in the players mentality as superstars they believe themselves to be the next famous superstar and here in the west not that much,

How is anyone surprised by this? All the stats in the past 3 years is enough evidence to conclude that the western tops are a full tier below. And the part about Jayce is very true, because Top laners AND their teams fundamentally misunderstand the real strength and reasons to picking Jayce. Jayce involves a higher nuanced understanding of your role and the game more than effectively all top lane champions, who either scoot through/are forgiven for certain weak areas. To give an example could be something like tanks having free scaling because hp is useful in all teamfights, and the strengths/weaknesses of tank are much easier to understand and forgive having to learn certain nuances like flanking or kiting.

I agree. Alphari is a good laner, statistically. But players like him who take all the jungle prox, and towards the end took the support too, aren't really helping the team win. He wasn't a 1v9 threat in most games he played, but the team played around him like he was and it didn't work in NA playoffs or worlds. At least not consistently at all.

I dislike bwipo as much as the next guy but this is true. Watch alphari and odonme jayce at worlds and how they would get cs leads with jg help and then do jack sht to break open enemy base and actually pressure and build their lead without team baby sitting them. Eastern toplaners are just better fundamentally even if a western toplaner can have good laning like alphari. There is just a visible gap.

hes 100% right. one of, if not the biggest reason T1 was handicapped in worlds was canna would often default to jayce and if he didnt get resources on him then T1 cant fight drags/rifts simply because jayce wasnt ahead enough to impact teamfights
