How Far Away is the First Light From Our Sun? #shorts

How far away has the first light from our sun traveled?

The sun has been shining for 4.6 billion years. So does that mean the first photons from our sun are 4.6 billion light-years away? No, because the universe is expanding.

The observable universe is expanding faster than the speed of light. So the photons from the Sun are receding faster.

The further away they are, the more space expands between them and the Sun.

So if we do a little math, we'll find that the sun's first photons are 7.59 billion light-years away from the Sun.

After taking calculus 2 and physics I’m really surprised at how simple that equation actually is. If you have taken those classes basically all parts of that equation are dealt simple concepts

You know, that could also explain why the rate at which the universe is expanding seems to be speeding up.

The light photons that your eyes see now took only 8 mins to travel the 90+ million miles but that same photon has probably taken hundreds of thousands of years, maybe a million years to reach the surface of the sun and fly out and away forever. It’s a super hot dense place inside the sun. The photon has a real battle ahead of it from the get go

Is this why we can't find any aliens because what we see is lights from years ago?

there's a small chance that aliens looked up at the sky and saw the sun without noticing. it's never zero

🤯 First time thinking about that. It basically acts like "resistance" for light?
