GREEK MYTHOLOGY: How did Zeus Control the Gods? - Zeus' Confessions

This video contains the confessions from the king of the Olympians himself, set at the beginning of his rule. After the events of his first wife metis, Zeus must decide what king he must be, and how to control the flighty, all powerful beings in his family. How did he rule differently than his predecessors? How did he succeed where they failed? How was he different?

*DISCLAIMER* This story is based on greek mythology, but includes some artistic interpretations as it's a fictional story - it is a tale told from the perspective of Zeus - and no one is a villain in their own story.

Living Mythology is an attempt to entertain, relax and educate all in the one place. We are trying to forge narratives so that people can experience the religions and mythologies of the world as they were meant to be. Not as dry academic monoliths, but as living breathing tales and parables as experienced by the peoples who worshipped these beings, in an attempt to make sense of their own lives and the world around them.

This channel is in its infancy, so we hope to improve and develop it as we gain more experience.

All of the tales are taken from very conflicting traditions across many centuries, so there will be many a moment when decisions need to be made to create a more cohesive narrative. If we present something that seems to be in contrast to details, rest assured we have researched many forms of the traditions and come to the conclusions we have done to form the videos.
There will NEVER be total agreement on any of these narratives due to the history and differing ways they developed over the centuries.
These videos are for entertainment and an easy gateway to the subject. If you wish more academic details then please direct your attention to the wide source material and others who perform those types of academic video essays.

The last video had me whipped into a "kill Zeus" fury....now...because of the exquisite storytelling and enthralling script, I want Zeus to win. For the good of all, we need Zeus to win.
I love this journey that Living Mythology has taken us all on.
Bravo Light & Baldy, bravo indeed.

Zeus seeming to lack the resolve to withstand his temptations makes more sense now…

Wow, just wow. We all know that Zeus gets laid more than Austin Powers and in sillier ways too, but that being his strategy of keeping both Hera and everyone else at bay and simultaneously creating a stock of progeny that by default would be loyal to him is a really interesting take. It’s not that he’s just a horndog(though, he is that as well), but he uses his biggest fault as a constant reminder to Hera that if he wanted to leave her, he could do it any day, he could even do it with a mortal if he so wished. He turned his biggest weakness into a strength, and that’s a dope way of seeing it. (even though Greeks probably just saw Zeus’ hornyness as a byproduct of his godly virility and manliness)

Zeus: "I must be wise"
Also Zeus: *eats the Titaness of wisdom*

Go team go! Great stuff as always, excellence is not a standard, it is a habit, and a habit one your family across all channels to heart

Beautiful rationalization of why Zeus does what he does. It's easy to forget that, KIng of The Gods as he is, he has to fight to stay on the top, and that requires scheming. Loved it!

the greater the power the greater the burden, the true rulers are those who can bear the weight without it bending their soul

Another excellent installment. Well done. I'm having a struggle not hearing Kronan when Zeus says " I must think!" But that is fun too, lol. 😂

I'm very interested in how he managed it. Given that he was gallivanting about, hooking up with everyone and their mother most of the time...

Zeus cannot end the other gods since he needs them to mentain balance.

Before watching this video, I hated Zeus.
Now, after watching this video, my hatred for Him has taken on a nuance that I desperately needed, as someone who writes modern devotional poems to the Gods. I hate Zeus. But I respect His position and necessity.

Well done. Very well written and amazingly performed. This is not Zeus as the pre-Christian Greeks would have understood Him, but this is probably the best modern interpretation of Him I've ever seen. Maybe not accurate, but absolutely authentic.

The stuff about Poseidon in the first 5min gave me mad flashbacks to play Age of Mythology as a kid.

Man i got say this is the best take on zeus i have heard. Hate to say it the Greek myths have always been a guilty pleasure on mine and nothing has infuriated me the modern-day take on zeus just look at Thor love and thunder. You truly made him to be a king to love honer and fear. You made him worthy of the title King of the gods. And I just can't wait till the other mythologies get going. And I got to say still love you on 40k as well.
