As a greek i can say that even tho we learn mythology at school she was never mentioned in the books maybe because they didn't want her to overshadow zeus

It’s because nyx is technically gaia’s sister. Gaia is Zeus’s great grandmother. And the power of the gods dilutes every generation. So the older the god is the stronger they are. Nyx is the generation of his great grandmother, thus shes the first gen ever created. She’s ridiculously powerful

There is another goddess… or deity at least… who is even more powerful than Nyx herself. Khaos (or Chaos), the origin of everything. She is what came before nothing, the emptiness of the abyss. She is the oldest, most knowledgeable and most powerful of all beings. Her children are Darkness (Erebus), Night (Nyx), Love (Eros), Earth (Gaea) and Tartarus.

I’m about to let my Sheldon out so please don’t judge me. But!!! It’s bothering me so badly every time someone calls her a goddess! Technically, Nyx is not a goddess. She is something much more powerful and ancient in power. The first beings in the universe. Primordials. They can take human form as well as a spiritual one. Almost like the air or land itself. Nyx, Erebus, Tartarus, Gaia and Uranos. Those are all the Primordial beings. Their children were the Titans. And the Titans then gave birth to the gods and goddesses. This is why he is partly afraid of her. Because she is much older and much more ancient in magic and power. She is very unknown to him, which is what scares him most. The fact that her power is endless much like the night. Quite Like how the night bares the moon, nightmares, monsters, insanity and sometimes even death. So did she. She gave birth to Titans like, Eris Titan of chaos and monsters, Hypnos Titan of sleep, Selene Titan of the moon (literally the moon) or even Thanatos Titan of death. Her and her children are commonly confused with gods and goddesses because some people argue of different lineage’s. This lineage theory tends to make more sense to me. As she and her husband and pretty much all her children and grandchildren tend to be Chthonic deity’s. A Chthonic deity is a being of the underworld. Sorry for the rant, but now I feel better! 😂
