With the King's Coronation now only two weeks away, preparation is well underway. The event, which sees Charles officially crowned monarch is estimated to cost an eye-watering £100 million. So, should the royal family pay for the coronation themselves?

I can’t see why it costs so much . Why is it more expensive for the Dukes to pull out their old ermine robes and coronets, than them having to buy new morning suits . The carriages are old, the uniforms of the soldiers are the same as any Royal event . I saw HMQ.’s coronation, people, sent their clothing stamps in to pay for her dress . The cities were still in a rotten state from the war and rationing was still on, but we needed a celebration to lift us up. The service is shorter the route is shorter I see what all the fuss it about . One thing I will suggest is that there should be a complete news a tv blackout of Harry’s visit . I don’t want to hear their names on May6th, or about Archie’s birthday. His dad was playing polo on his 3rd birthday. 🇨🇦

No the Royal Family shouldn't have to pay for the Coronation because it's a State event. We wouldn't expect an elected Head of State to pay for elections. We would pay far more for elections every 4 years if we had an elected Head of State so I don't see the problem with paying for a one off Coronation during the lifetime of each Monarch. The last one was 70 years ago.
