Taxpayers 'pay for your parade': Charles heckled in Wales on cost of monarchy

King Charles was heckled during a walkabout in Wales, where one man attracted his attention to say that taxpayers were funding the monarchy. 

The reaction of the crowds in Cardiff was largely positive as Charles walked to the castle, but some anti-monarchy protesters booed him and there were small demonstrations at Llandaff Cathedral and the Senedd building

A president wouldn't cost any less. Cost is a pointless argument. Then we'd have someone like Blair or boris as head of state. Not sure that's progress

Blame your government for giving power companies the right to charge without limits. The monarch has no control over that and many other unfair decisions made against the citizens.

I cant help feeling that without our monarchy we would be an even more unremarkable country, we are no longer a part of the Europen Union, a middle ranking power with a fading military, a vastly depleted industrial base and an ageing population, so do we really want to get rid of one of the last things that we have that we do really well?, and I am not particularly a monarchist, but I think binning the monarchy would be another step to total national irrelevance

Hence the need for the right of consent in law. People who don’t want the monarchy, will just say no, and they can’t be forced to pay for it.

It's constitutional monarch. People can abolish the monarch if they want. But the majority wants to keep it. He is your king. The budget is approved by the parliament.
