Even though I’m not carnivore, I enjoyed this conversation and hope that you can get some value out of it in one way or another. I’d like to start inviting various opposing views on my channel. Any ideas for who to bring on next!?

As beekeepers- bless you! We can barely sell our raw, organic (as much as we can control in our area), minimally filtered honey. People routinely tell us they don’t eat any sugar, they are keto, honey is just sugar, on and on and on….
If only honey would go viral, we might break even at some point!!

My take away: eat fruit, honey, butter, liver, beef, and eggs for optimal health. Avoid seed oils( canola, corn, safflower, soybean oils, etc). Avoid table sugar, grains, and corn syrup. Sounds doable and simple to me! Great video!

My personal experience is that low carb works wonders on my energy, mental focus, skin, blood pressure. I do believe that Thomas and Paul, like Rhonda Patrick live in the la la land where so much advice that is impossible and contradictory to follow.
These influecers are for those investing serious amount of resources and time to have a perfect physique. For the 99% of people who have a normal life, listen but experiment and find out what works for you.

"250 to 300 carbs a day" I almost choked on my glysophate enriched oatmeal eaten well after sundown when he said that.

Don't forget Saladino surfs several hours a day in addition to hitting the weights. Not everyone can pound down fruit on top of a decent amount of meat and dairy.

What I took away from this is nutrition is so complicated we don't really understand it and we just do the best we can. Use some common since and don't get attached to anything.

Eating a load of fruit is fine and natural if you live somewhere hot, temperate and close to the equator like Paul does, but for those of us living in colder climates far from the equator like I do it's not natural ( very limited variety of local indigenous fruit, and only a few months a year) and just makes you feel cold and sluggish

I really enjoyed listening to this conversation because it didn't sound staged and I think you are both really trying to find out what the best diet for us human beings should be.

I like Dr Chaffee’s argument that we need to think of organs in relation to the whole animal so this would be an ounce or 2 per day with the rest of your meat intake to keep nutrients at healthy levels and not to overdo it. Most meat and fat with a little bit of organs and your health will optimize.

This is new information to me as well. As a poor person I always eat the tougher cuts of meat. Generally I grind it all up and add liver, then cook slowly with onion and garlic for flavor. The fattiest and toughest cuts of meet have the best flavor. Cooked as a stew it's a real treat!

Personally, I've found the carnivore diet to work wonders for my energy levels and weight. I've modified it a bit over time, and now regularly eat berries, lemon (or lime) water, and a few other minimal non-carnivore products. I probably am consuming roughly 2-4 carbs a day 90% of the time, but then have entire weekends where I will eat whatever. I have not noticed any negative side effects from this. My weekends where I eat anything are about once a month, with maybe a meal or two during that time also being outside of my carnivore diet.

I plan on adding honey in sometime in the future, but definitely want to be slow and deliberate about it. I understand there are health benefits to honey, but don't want to get too used to having that sweet fix too often. Cravings have done me in, in the past, so I know for me, I need to be smart about sweet foods.

TLDR: Carnivore is great for me with a few minor modifications.

Thomas, you are (in my view) most recently exploring the areas of diet and nutrition that I’m subscribing to myself. That is, I’m including organs, beef bone broth, whole pasture raised eggs, eliminating seed oils, adding raw dairy, adding Papaya, reducing grains, increasing my good fats, lowering my calories through less carbs, eliminating proceed sugars (and moderate protein) and period 3-day fasts. Calculating my free T vs. Cortisol levels is something I’m looking at. I question still my ability to be active (strength training) while having fasting in the equation. Keep up the excellent work. Also I love the concept of Thrive Market and plan on checking them out finally. Steve A.

I started carnivore but was craving fruit so I started eating it with meat. Glad I wasn’t “breaking the rules” lol. I still feel great. 6 weeks strong. Finally Healed my gut !!

I've been wondering lately how the seasonal aspect of things comes into play. Throughout the year primal people would've cycled through seasons of winter where the first freeze brings the safest access to meat, but access to carbs quickly dwindles away except for the probably small reserves of dried or fermented foods that were probably used sparingly and saved for times of scarcity. Then spring brings in herbs, edible flowers, and berries along with lots of raw milk and eggs, but less meat due to not disrupting the mating seasons, summer brings lots of leafy greens and mushrooms, but meat is risky due to diseases and parasites, autumn brings denser carbs like stone fruits, apples, corn, grains, carrots, nuts, etc that would contribute to heavier fat reserves for surviving the winter again, when the diet would be far more carnivorous and highly ketogenic. Local climate also effects nutrition. Coconut water contains hydrating electrolytes for people who are sweating more during a harsh summer, while bone broth would be the best source of electrolytes during a harsh winter when plants are less available and the ketogenic body isn't so readily storing them, citrus contains large amounts of vitamin c for people exposed to lots of solar radiation. Apples, corn, beans, walnuts, buffalo, reindeer, etc contain high levels of carbs and saturated fats for people who need extra fat storage to survive harsh winters. So my hypothesis is that God (or nature if you prefer) already provided the diet that was best for us in the time and place we need it most!

But you CANT overeat on meat only diet, you feel full when you have eaten enough. This never happens when eating fruits or carbs hence your sticking point is "eat in moderatation"

Eating meats dont need to be in "moderation" as your brain will moderate it for you and tell you when to stop by making you lose appetite.

I’ve been keto for 4 years but after I lost the weight I needed. I decided to have non keto weekends and sometimes weeks. I have found that grains give me nasty headaches so I try not to endulge too much
