I had a girlfriend (when I was 24) that brought up problems she was having and I always offered her advice and ways to fix things. She would get mad and tell me she doesn't want to hear any of that she just wanted to vent and have me listen. So I took that to heart and never offered my help or advice unless it was asked and just listened and gave her words of encouragement. She ended up breaking up with me because she said I never offered to help with her problems and it was like I didn't care about her.

I wasn't even heart broken, cause I was just completely dumbstruck. I moved on and eventually a 3 years later she reached out to ask for some advice, I just politely refused and ignored her text/calls.

To add to number one, as a woman who dates a very traditional dude, thank them for all the love and support wanting to fix the issue, ask if they have the emotional energy to just listen to the problem give you a hug and say, you can handle it I love you, you're capable, and then maybe have ice cream and a movie. If you give him a clear lay out of what you need tons of guys will be happy to do so, especially if you meet his needs by being giving sexually, not shaming his emotions, giving him time for games and friends, ask him if it's a good time to talk about an issue and be okay with waiting to bring it up later, and making your needs clear. Works out for everyone
