There is a big difference between what you learn in business school, and what you need to know in the real world – just ask any startup founder or business owner! My goal is to focus on the real-world aspects of business, giving practical tips and tricks that are not usually covered in school.

This channel is a platform to help job seekers, entrepreneurs and business owners succeed. It is also to help the world at large to be more effective and successful in their careers. The world can certainly use more inspiring leaders, more successful entrepreneurs, more employed job seekers, and more capable managers - that is what I would like to help bring about.

Who Am I?
I am a practicing management consultant, former CEO, and entrepreneur. I have led many businesses to success, as well as several startups. Among other things, I have an engineering degree, and a master's degree in finance.

I have worked across five industries, and have worked in both large enterprise and small businesses. I have also mentored startup founders and teach business and HR at a post-graduate level.

Why I Want To Involve My Community:
The only way this channel will succeed is with YOUR help. In order to know how best to proceed, I need constant feedback from YOU. What topics should I cover? What challenges are you facing? What questions do you have? What changes should I make?

Thank you for being here and reading this, best of luck, and have yourself an amazing day!

This might explain why virtually all the applications I filled out led nowhere...

Now that I think about it. Almost every job I got was from friends or networking.

The last two interviews I had were from a recommendations from a networking group and a friend. Her boss said I wish I could clone you and she told her about me.

Back in the "day" we were taught valuable grassroots job seeing skills that were highly effective. He's 100% correct!

I work at UPS as a package sorter. I'm ashamed that my introverted nature is what led me to not going for better types of jobs. Always terrified to face rejection. I probably missed out on dozens of opportunities because of it. Thanks for this video. It gives me some hope.

This is excellent advice - and very true! I know so many people - across all age groups - who are looking for work right now. They are facing the situation that you are talking about.

This is true, recently the wife of my cousin knows someone from a company who has a slot for a job so she asked me if I would like to work there so I said yes and gave my resume. Companies prioritize connections or having some common friends so a network of friends is really advantageous.

Thank You for this! The online search is corrupted and soul sucking.

I'm not gonna lie, but this has actually worked for me. My friend was roommates with a someone who was in a band with a CIO at a company. Two years later he reached out to me for a position which I'm still at. That same company I referred three people all who got an interview. Unfortunately two of them did not get the job but certainly made it extremely far into the hiring process. So networking does go along way

I believe it. Many of the hiring managers that interviewed me say that there are hundreds of candidates. How do you choose one out of so many qualified candidates?!

I have gotten several jobs from the internet, but only because they required moving across the country. Every job I ever got 'locally' was because I knew someone, or 'networking' as you call it.

He is absolutely correct!!!Networking. Making yourself familliar in unfamiliar circles.

My boss often asked me if I knew anyone who could do a job she was about to advertise online. Now I know why. You can find skilled employees/candidates anywhere, but it's not easy to find someone reliable and who understands the company's culture. 😂😂😂

It's been 2 years, and yeah, when it was easy to get software dev jobs in the late 2010s, they were all referrals.

I once cold called a company in my industry and asked the owner if they were looking. I was able to articulate myself correctly. CEO scheduled an interview for me next week. I was hired on the spot after interview and I even negotiated my wage 2 dollars above what they were giving the other customer service reps. Since then I work in sales which I like better and make more money

100% true I have experienced both! If you know someone from the inside or someone who recommends you, you have a higher chance of getting that job than job boards, excellent advice, thank you for sharing.

Yup. I hope my kids are getting this information. Used to be this was the plain story from adults, high-school and college counselors, etc. Seems like the lack of trust in institutional authority has made this communication harder. Also, computer and social-media brain-rot hasn't helped.

Also, take a part-time or temporary job in the company you want to work for. It gets your foot in the door. When a full-time vacancy comes up you will be front of the queue.

Short story. In the past with the non-referral situation I've got the "I don't believe you" response and I've became defensive during an interview. Why? I talked way too much about me.

Applying for online jobs for 3 years now has killed my soul.
