That did come off as mean with the car, but at the time there was a lot of press about how roomy the smart car can be. I believe there were stories about how many people they could get in it. I would almost bet they had this set up with Tommy beforehand, to show this huge guy can even fit in the smart car and the car company was using it as marketing. I would hope they weren't just being mean to him 😁👍

It must be acknowledged that Scott is one of the only youtube commentators who can discuss the plight of someone very unlike himself while exuding such an all encompassing empathy that never feels like disingenuous "white knighting" or in any way nefarious, just humanizing. Part of me wonders if this was intended to be mean, or if this was partially planned before hand with Tommy to kind of showcase how even small smart cars have enough space for large people. My best friends is about Tommy’s size, and a lot of cars are not comfortable. If they had planned this with Tommy saying “hey, we’re going up your size a little bit, act like we don’t think you can do this, and then you walk away with a free car you actually can use “I think that’s a major win for him

I went in thinking "What would make this cruel" and honestly I did not expect that. I did NOT think they would make fun of him because of his weight. I didn't even realize it was leading up to that because it did not even register in my mind that they would make fun of something like that.

Its so weird that in the USA version of Deal or No Deal all the cases are held by models. Feels so 80s.
In the UK version the boxes are held by other contestants.
