This seems so difficult. So there is no way to import midi files 1 into the MPC software. This need to be fixed Great video!

Lol, I was the guy who asked you a couple of times on the other video( MTCs ), that you did…Thanks, for putting this out…🙏🏽

Hopefully, even though it’s drag and drop, which is awesome that it’s possible, I hope Akai will make it easier / improve the process, so it’s easier to see in the tracks, or more straight ahead process in a future update. I’m very glad that we know its at least possible now …

To change octaves really fast, just hold shift and tap the up or down arrows on the keyboard. Holding alt will move it one semi tone.

The sipping of the coffee distracted me- thanks 🙏🏾

I think Midi file, Mackie control or just control surfaces in general, and VST3 support are what makes me work outside of MPC software.

A lot of stuff to do for midi file importation and playback. Akai needs to adopt the Fruity Loops simplicity to importing midi files, where you can just drag a midi file to the grid and see the whole notes and be able to to just grab the notes to edit them in seconds versus the MPC software midi file edit in the half an hour method. Easy simple quick midi file dragging and editing is what made fruity loops the most popular DAW beat maker software in the world for it's ease of use in dealing with midi files and importation.

Been searching how to do this!!!!. So the file comes in as a sequence and separates each instrument out as a track! Brilliant!

Thanks dude. We're of an age, so I find your explanations useful. Generally. Pretty much. Yeah, the midi mapping thing! I can't use the MPC software because I have the "wrong" operating system. But, what I've found is short of transcribing the music and playing it in directly in to the MPC itself from a midi keyboard all by myself, which can be a little tricky (reading music notation for me is a bit like reading Russian - I kinda know what most of the letters are and some of the words are similar to English, but it's hellish slow to work out), I discovered that I can plug one of those USB to 5 pin DIN midi converters that are normally used to connect an old fashioned midi keyboard to a computer into the DIN sockets on the MPC and just play the damn file on the computer into the MPC as if I were playing it on a keyboard. Well, I guess it's obvious - no major discovery here. However, like you found with the bass, a lot of it gets screwed up. The drums, for example are a nightmare and are best played in directly using the MPC pads - I guess that's the whole point of having an MPC anyway. I think that's what they mean by "midi mapping", the notes seem to be shifted on to different midi notes compared with, say, a drum machine or drum sound module; it's like a foreign country where they have a different voltage or drive on the other side of the road, or whatever. MPC-land. What I've taken to doing is using a program called "MuseScore" (it's a free download) to split the midi file up into individual parts and then use the USB dongle thingy to play each instrument into the MPC One one at a time. It's a faff, but my keyboard skills aren't good enough yet to get the nuance of some classic lines. Hope this helps and thanks for your painstaking tutorial on the MPC One, I'm gonna watch it again now.

Mapping is the new term for where to put it

The reason why it’s starting at the 4th bars is because one of the track have info that starts on bar one. When they tracked it out the did it as the whole song. So if you think about it the bass don’t come in until the 4th bar. So the keys might be at bar one. Just check all the track to see which one starts on bar one. I love your videos bro 🙏🏾👍🏾

If you use the browser to navigate to where the midi files are, they will show up in the MPC software from there you can just drag and drop them into the track. All of my midi files are in the same place I keep my sounds so it’s simple and I don’t have to go through a bunch of steps to do it.
