This would make a lovely spooky dating sim. Instead of wholesome/hot anime boys/girls you have obsessive monsters who start out harmless but slowly turn more and more mosterous and creepy. Smothering you in their twisted sense of love.

Touch: Caresse (meaning "tender touch")
Acts of Service: Abdial (meaning "servant")
Words of Affirmation: Beatrix (meaning "she who brings happiness")
Gifts: Mateo (meaning "gift")
Quality Time: Horatia (meaning "time keeper")

Those are the basic names I got for them. Hope you enjoy.

i love how words of affirmation has curly hair bc it gives me the vibe of 'being fuzzy in the head' which can be if someone floods you with compliments

Oh wow, I didn‘t know that „gift giving“ had such a bad reputation 🙈 as someone who grew up with this as one of the dominant love languages expressed around me, I gotta say: it‘s not necessarily about the money value. It could be giving or getting half of a chocolate bar, or something someone made by themselves.

I like how the "words of affirmation" 's face is covered also because I feel like that love language stems from insecurity, for instance people who are insecure in themselves will look for afirmation from others so that felt like a nice visual representation as well

I love how Lavendertowne can turn any abstract noun into a creative character 😍 ✨️

For me, as a person with a love language of gift giving/receiving, it's less about the material object and more the sentiment. I guess it's more like penguin pebbling, lol. For example: "I found this rock that reminds me of your eyes and I want you to have it" or "I know you love cookies so I baked you some". I struggle with being direct when it comes to expressing love and gift giving and receiving makes it easier for me to communicate 😚

i feel like nobody really talks about the potential negative and toxic sides of love languages so this is really refreshing!
someone very toxic that i once knew had words of affirmation as theirs and it did get suffocating very fast because not only did they shower me with unnecessary compliments, they expected the same from me
also i can confirm as someone who has the love language of quality time that if left unchecked it can get obsessive really easily, especially if you're like me and you're not that great with social cues or understanding what another person might feel about it
(i had to learn growing up that not everyone wanted to watch 10+ hours of cartoons with me lol)

Absolutely love the Words of Affirmation one.
You really have no other choice than to look at her tattoos, the conniving angel in your ear, when you don't see her face - her real intentions.
The words she whispers become the only truth you know.

As someone who adores giving gifts as a love language I think it is perfectly fine to like receiving gifts! the love language of giving gifts isn’t always some old dude giving a girl a Maserati, but it can also be writing a love letter for someone, and the joy of finding things they would like for their birthday. It can also be a flower or an acorn that you found on a walk to bring back for them. For me writing cards for people is a big way I express love for them.

As someone who has dealt with the abusive form of quality time, I think you really perfected the feelings and vibes surrounding it. I really love this <33

I _adore_ these! I can just imagine a Persona-style story where the characters realize they're suffocating each other, and these monsters hatch into something healthier when they learn to establish and respect each others' boundaries!

As someone that hates being touched due to my sensitivity to things- you captured it perfectly

I know this wasn’t the intended interpretation of “Quality of Time” but I found a few different meanings.

1. This character could represent the fear of time slipping away, perhaps you seeing your loved ones less frequently or maybe the knowledge of you losing them to anything, illness, betrayal, whatever it may be. This would fit in with the black stuff receding to imply losing your grip on said relationship.

2. This one is more in line with what you said but the time you share becoming sour. Being with them becoming suffocating and uncomfortable which would be represented by the black stuff slowly consuming any good memories.

Haha, just my thoughts though and as always lovely art!

(I don’t comment much but I was too entertained by my thoughts and wanted to express them 😅)

I think gift-giving as a way of showing love works in certain ways depending on context.
Only feeling loved when you receive things can be problematic, but i think if the best way you can show someone that you care about them is giving them something you know they will like shows that you pay attention to their interests, support them, and think of them when they're not around, without the need for words. And it's generally a nice gesture especially if it was not required for any other reason than to make someone feel good.

Something I've realised looking at Touch, who's body is mainly made up of block colours like a superhero, is that Haley's rendering skills have gotten amazing! Despite being a cartoon with line art, I really felt the depth and form of her legs and fingers.

I didn’t realize that my love language was gift giving until I got a boyfriend and he sent me an enamel pin and I absolutely melted. I love giving gifts to him too. I just love it. It’s not about the quantity of the gifts or how expensive they are. Someone knowing me enough to know what will make me happy, big or small (a sticker, a meme in my instagram messages, a pebble on the street) is incredibly lovely.

It's stunning how abstract you can build these charaters without losing their essence

I love this prompt so much, cause the toxic side of every love language really is something like 'don't look at me, don't look at my face, look at what i do for you!' and that's super creepy in those scenarios where its just the first few dates and someone gives you a lot of expensive gifts or bombs you with a lot of compliments.
Also, i think its a little dumb to think you only have one love language. we each need a little of all love languages. You can maybe prefer some a little more than others, but if you neglect those others, thats when a lot more issues in relationships appear.
