I feel like a lot of you probably sensed that this was coming but we're moving back to LA. Houston did not work out for us. The house did not work out for us. Homeownership has been a struggle.

I'm very grateful for this experience because I've learned a lot of new skills and even learned a lot about myself and what I can handle but it's time to tap out.

My favorite thing about your channel isn’t the “struggles” it’s you overcoming them. I always appreciate how raw and genuine you are.

Paying off 200k worth of debt,
Starting your own business,
getting married,
AND buying a home

Watching you do this is so inspiring! And you don’t sugar coat it when it gets hard. I’m glad your safe more than anything! If homeownership didn’t work out this time around there’s plenty of houses and a lot more life for you to live to give it another go.

Sharing your struggles from an honest and vulnerable place is not being negative. The person commenting that is the one being negative. 💚

This is exactly what happened to me when I moved to Htown from LA 9 years ago. I tried soooo hard to stay in Htown until my friends and family said "You are so much happier in LA." Follow your heart Aja. At least you gave it all (financially, mentally and physically). You can do this all again. This time with experience.

Aja just as you rose above your dibilitating debt you will rise above the disappointment you're facing with your property. Thanks for keeping it real Aja you are not negative. You would not have shifted your life success if you were negative. We are with you and Beyonce is with you! Xoxo

That sounds horrifying some guy tried to break into your Houston home. However, I’m happy you’re choosing to put yourself first by moving back to LA

I’ve related to your home ownership videos so strongly this year, Aja. I’m literally writing this as electricians are rewiring our 80 year old home so that ours too will NOT catch on fire 😅 During our own home repairs I’ve thought about how much easier emotionally it would be to fix up a home if we didn’t have to live in it during the fixing phase. Living through the countless repairs makes getting to that place of safety and comfort more difficult. Since it sounds like yall are keeping the property for now, perhaps with some distance and time it will get to a place where the houston house starts feeling like a true home. In the meantime, how fortunate that you CAN move back to LA?! I know it may feel disappointing/not ideal financially but I see it as a win. You have the financial means to get out of a situation that is not serving you. The Aja I started following years ago would be proud of how far you’ve come ❤

I’m a Houston resident myself and I’m so sorry for the experience you’ve had with your Houston home. I’m happy though that you guys will have so much peace and happiness back in LA. Also happy for all the work Brian is getting. You’ve done so much work toward the house and def something to be proud of. Praying that the house in Houston will no longer be a huge burden for you guys but a blessing, whether you decide to rent or possibly one day sell ❤️🙏🏽

I say it with the best intention. Home ownership is not for everyone.
It comes with a prize. And it's not money, it's sometimes loosing your sanity. If your foundation is not solid rock, it is this stressful. And the foundation is your mental health and your relationship.

It’s ok to start over even though it hasn’t been very long. Trust your gut. Even on a big thing like this, it’s your living situation. Your home should be your peace

Aja, just wanted to say I’ve been here since your student loan days. I also paid mine off in a similar fashion. Last year, January 2022, I was looking into buying a house as well. I was being pressured by my realtor to move fast because that’s when the interest rates started to go up. I put an offer in on a house by myself. After the inspection, I met with the inspector. The house had TONS of mold in the attic, along with a million other tiny issues. It was a hack job. A part of me really wanted to buy it anyways, just to have a home, but I backed out. The seller tried to stop me backing out, but luckily my realtor knew what she was doing. After that scare, I’ve stuck to renting and stopped looking at buying. I’m sorry you’ve gone through this experience, but at least now you’ve tried it and know that renting might just be better for you personally! That’s what I took away from my experience at least.

I definitely feel your pain! Homeownership is definitely a struggle! I feel like I’m working just to fix my current home. It’s hard to enjoy anything outside of the house because majority of our income goes to the house. Safe travels back to LA!

Aja, you are strong and capable no matter which city you are in. It doesn’t make you any less that you are going back to LA. Do what’s best for yourself ! ❤

Learning what doesn’t work for you is just as important as learning what does. This is just a part of that learning process and I know you’re going to grow from this and that next step, whatever it is, will be even better. It’s not failure to accept that something doesn’t work for you. The biggest mistake would be to stay in a situation where you know you’re unhappy, unhealthy and unsafe. Wishing you and Brian a happier time back in LA ❤

I appreciate your openness and honesty through sharing your hardships with us, Aja! It’s been heartbreaking to see you guys experience so many issues, but it’s really been eye-opening for so many people (me included), who are looking into homeownership. Things have been tough, but you are riding each wave like a champ 🌊 Sending you and Brian all the good juju as you both move back to LA 💜

Fellow Houstonian here. I'm sorry to hear about the break-in & damage to your house. 😢 Good thing you weren't home & thank God for good people like John. For peace of mind, you guys are doing what is right. It's a blessing to be able to do that. Houston will still be here if yall change your mind years from now. Much love ❤🤘

Thank you for sharing such an intimate, vulnerable part of your life. It must be so hard but I hope in some ways it’s healing for you to say things out loud and hopefully you get to read comforting, encouraging comments. You got this! ❤

Dang that’s so scary. Nothing worse than fearing for your safety in a place that’s supposed to be your safe space. So sorry this is happening to you. You tried your best and learned a lot from it. Hope some good energy and peace comes your way ❤
