Man as someone living in Turkey, I can say that Turkey has become expensive for the normal people in Turkey who earn in Turkish lira. The inflation rate is too bad

That econ student's prediction was correct. The Turkish Lira reached up to 8.50 for every dollar in November 2020. Now a dollar is about 8.30 try.

Edit: Currently 1 US dollar is equivalent to around 13 Turkish lira. I can't believe that when I first visited Turkey 5 years ago a dollar was only equivalent to 3 Turkish lira.

Edit: 17.12.2021 1 USD = 16.42 TRY

I feel sorry for Turkish people, hope their beautiful nation will reach prosperity. Being Russian i know this feeling when your currency is rapidly falling down, due to US-EU sanctions price of dollar and euro at least doubled for us since 2014 Crimea annexation.

I remember when I was working on a cruiseship. We usually go on a shore on izmir and Istanbul. And the rate of 1usd is 2lira. It's kinda sad that the value of there money is depreciating rapidly

Inflation rate in Lebanon is much worse. At Mcdonalds, three burgers, fries and a coke is 2 dollars. Average monthly salaries have fallen below 40$. You could rent an apartment for less than 100$ a month. Less than 50$ would be more than enough to feed you for a month.

Lira depreciates a lot against dollar in the last few years, and dont forget that US FED printed a lot these years. So the real value of lira is like crazy depreciated

If you come to Brazil as a tourist, and you think it is so cheap, we, Brazilians see, it is so expensive. You will see that our situation is similar of theirs. But high dolar is good for Brazilian agricultural exporters.
