I did a modified CG method, but continued to clarify once in a while and I didn't do cowashing. I didn't like cowashing. It did make a difference as I used to flat iron every day and was using a crappy shampoo and conditioner before I started. It has been 3 years now, so once in a while I do use Verb products that contain silicones.

I use to use shampoo & conditioner that had strong sulfates in them, and what was happening was that my hair looked dry, brittle, frizzy barely no curl. I changed and switched to hair products that have no sulfates, etc., and of course my hair has frizzy days, but it seems a little better with more curl definition. Also switched to lukewarm water versus very hot and switched the way I was styling it.

I love your channel, along with other YouTube videos that help andvtalk about curly hair. It helps so much.

Thank you for this! This is such a helpful summary of all the ways CGM may not work for someone.

Echoing a couple points — I have fine, lower porosity hair and a somewhat oily scalp, and my scalp/hair suffered enormously when I tried to use extremely gentle shampoos (DevaCurl Low Poo). I had to wash daily if going out, or every other day if staying home that second day. I would often find my hair to be embarrassingly oily looking within 8-14 hours of washing it. I also had what I thought was “dandruff” for a few years, only for it to vanish and never return when I switched to shampoo that had stronger surfactants. It was clearly buildup. I’m just someone who needs to clarify at least once every other week (often more like once a week, and especially if I use dry shampoo). I can now go three days with my hair looking clean, and my old day 3 hair is what my hair now looks like on day 6. The difference is enormous in terms of time/energy spent and frustration avoided!

Could you please recommend some water soluble silicone products? I’m so lost and I think I need them!!!

There are so many ads on the links, it's impossible to see what's most important. T Y, I'll try something else.
