When I wake up, well I know I'm gonna be,
I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next to you
When I go out, yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you
When I get drunk, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you
And when I haver, hey I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you

And I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked a thousand miles
To fall down at your door

When I'm working, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you
And when the money, comes in for the work I do
I'll pass almost every penny on to you
When I come home (When I come home), well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you
And when I grow old, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's growing old with you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked a thousand miles
To fall down at your door

When I'm lonely, well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's lonely without you
And when I'm dreaming, well I know I'm gonna dream
I'm gonna dream about the time when I'm with you
When I go out (When I go out), well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you
And when I come home (When I come home), yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home with you
I'm gonna be the man who's coming home with you

And I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked a thousand miles
To fall down at your door

And I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked a thousand miles
To fall down at your door

I keep this song playing in the background as I work. It reminds me for whom I do it all for.

Asking for help: on 05/28/24, it will be my wife's And I 30th wedding anniversary. I have never been the best husband, but I have been one who loved her more. I have contacted the Proclaimers, contacted the Bethlehem Pennsylvania Pennsylvania Moravian Choir, to sing our first song, our first wedding dance song, I would walk 500 miles, so far no response. I so need this to happen, I so need this to come true. I so need for my wife of thirty is our and forever and will be this song. Sometimes old men, remember our love, our life, and our past. Please share, please encourage, please help my wife finally get the old man she married. Please let me give her this gift.
