Here's What The Bible Says About Cremation

The Bible says a great deal about a great many things. However, the subject of the funerary right of cremation is not one of them. While the Jewish and Christian scriptures are not completely silent on the matter of burning bodies of loved ones, they're not very specific on the matter either. In fact, most denominations derive their disposition toward the practice from doctrinal matters that are only peripherally related to what to do with dead bodies. As you might expect, the doctrine of resurrection has a great deal to do with Jewish and Christian approaches to cremation, but no two groups seem to fully agree. Anyway, here's what the Bible says about cremation.

Would you rather be buried or cremated?

They should read the part that says " ashes to ashes, dust to dust". Our body is just a vessel for our soul. Once your dead you no longer need it. The Lord will bring us back as he sees fit.

I am a Christian who takes his faith very seriously. Personally, I see nothing sinful with cremation. This body of mine is not me. It's a shell of flesh that I dwell in for a short time. I've instructed my family to cremate my remains, plant a tree and put my ashes in the ground with the tree. Funerals are way too expensive. I do not want to burden my family with the over priced expense of a funeral. Funerals are ceremony for the living anyway. Besides, the Bible teaches that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

I just don't wanna make my family pay an ungodly amount of money for a coffin & burial plot when I die.

When a lady I heard of asked her husband if he wanted to be buried or cremated he answered with, ‘ oh just surprise me ‘, he probably had the right attitude !

I think each person's last wishes should be followed as best as possible.

When I was 28, I was the caregiver for my grandmother when she died. She already had a plot where my grandfather was buried so it was a traditional funeral and her life insurance barely covered it. I requested a closed casket since she struggled with Parkinsons and looked so frail before she died. When I was at the funeral home and they showed me the list of proposed fees to sign off on, I noticed a $600 charge for her hair to be done and some makeup. I reminded them that it was a "closed casket" and asked why this service was on the list? I could not believe that the funeral director actually said: "We thought this this something that she would have wanted." I responded that I knew her and they didn't. I told them: "She would have wanted to punch me in the face if I spent $600 of her money for a useless service."

When my father passed on 4/22/20 from Covid they didn't let us have a funeral but cremated my father I was so mad and hurt but when they gave him back his remains were placed in a beautiful glass urnfor my mother with a heart pendant filled with my father's ashes then gave my brother and I silver hourglass pendants with my father being the sands of time, it was a very sweet gesture it helped with not seeing my dad off to the other side, at least now he is everywhere I go always with me

The only way I'm ever going to have a smoken hot body is when I get cremated.

It costs $10, 000+ to bury someone these days. Costs as little as $1000 to cremate. I own several burial plots from immediate family who changed their minds and wanted to be cremated. Guess I ought to look into selling them, as I intend to take the cheaper route too, as does my remaining siblings. We are Christians.

Well, I was against cremation until someone pointed out that the body will decay, anyway. So, cremation just speeds up the process. And the body you die with is not the body that would live for eternity. So, I now feel cremation is OK.

i am Catholic and i believe God will make us all rise in spirit not the actual body. Then again, there is nothing the God i believe in cant do if He wills it. So if the body is cremated or decayed whole and He wants to raise our physical form He will do it as He wills it. :) Stay positive pple!

I equate the dead body to a suit of clothes that I’m no longer wearing. I don’t care what anyone does with it; I will not be using it anymore.

Ashes to Ashes Dust to Dust.. if our Father can bring Dust back what makes you think Our Father can't bring Ashes back ?? Our Father in Heaven can do ALL THINGS 💯‼️

Many of us, either with no family or family with limited resources, let the county take care of via cremation.

I kind of like the idea of being cremated and then having my ashes placed in an hour glass that the family can use on game nights. Plus it would mean that I would be in an actual time machine. And it would definitely give new meaning to the phrase, "it's later than you think!"

When I die I want a closed casket funeral. I've instructed the organ player to play "pop goes the weasel, " so everyone there can look on in horrified anticipation.

So what happens to those who say where on the Titanic, or other ship sinkings. They get eaten by fish in the sea. What about those who are burned to death or who get crushed like in a buiding collapse. You really want to be back in an old scarred body ? No.. The Bible says we will have new pure bodies in heaven, the body we have here is temporary and just a shell so to speak for our soul
