Seems to be very harsh on the triton, the MR is a big improvement on the MQ, the new 6 speed gear box and super select ii 4wd system are game changers... I drove all the utes and ended up with a GLS Premium, its a lovely car around town and also amazing off road... the 7 years warranty, leather and heated seats, 360 cameras, rear diff lock, super select ii, led head lights, drive away for literally $12k less than the equivalent ranger and hilux... throw in a set of good bilstein shocks and rides better than all the other utes.

I bought my wife the MQ a couple of years back 2017 and it’s awesome. I’m so impressed that I’m buying the new GLS. They’re a great unit at a great price!

I’m sorry, but maybe you don't have that much of handle on them.

Let’s look at towing capacity. Mitsubishi doesn’t claim ridiculous 3.5t one-upmanship when quoting the Triton’s towing capacity. The capacity is quite likely the same as the others - unless you only tow with a driver and no additional weight in the tub or cab in those vehicles. Just have a look at the specs for Navara- stupid to advertise them as having a 3.5t towing capacity as they have a kerb weight of 1921kg, a GVM of 2910 and a GCM of 5910kg. Do the maths and that leaves under 500kg for driver, passengers, luggage, camp equipment, tools, eskies, etc. In fact put four decent sized adults in it and you’ll probably be over the limit! And forget about bull bars, winches etc. Of course, this is only relevant if you want to tow up to the 3.5t limit, but I’m sure you get the point.

You also state that the Triton might be a bit underpowered to tow bigger weights and when compared to some of the others, but it has a really torquey low down motor. The Triton is the opposite- it’s quite a high revving diesel that doesn’t develop its maximum 430Nm torque until 2500rpm. For example, the new Hilux develops its max 420Nm at 1400rpm, the Amarok’s 400Nm at 1500rpm, D-Max 430Nm at 2000rpm, Ranger’s 470Nm at 1750rpm.

I won’t go on any more though, and I don’t even own one!

IRONMAN have a bar out that looks mint on it.

3.1 tonnes towing is the same as most others. For example, if you towed 3.1T with a Triton and a ranger, the Triton would have about 750KG left for passengers and gear while a ranger would have about 600KG. It literally has lower total payload

I bought a MR Triton GLX + 6 months ago. While trying to fit a nudge bar i found rust around the chassie rail welding joints. Found rust in the tub one day after buying it. Which they replaced. Any one else had this issue and what was done??

Hi guys, thanks for sharing this video. I have a question and I hope you guys could help me out with it. Is the MQ suspension system the same as the MR? I can't find online any suspension lift kit for my MR in my country, here the MR was realease this year and I can only find lift kits for the ML and MQ versions, I look forward to hearing from you soon, cheers!

if you fit a bullbar you can't mount a UHF aerial on it.. The AEB camera system goes bat shit crazy and you get warnings coming up on the dash. Mine done it but only at night with main lights on.

Id take a 2.4 single turbo over a 2 litre twin turbo any day. Small motor more turbos = $$$$ when the kms climb. Tritons 2.4 isn't wound up much makes quite a bit more power with a tune still on standard boost. Raptor is pushing 2 bar (30 PSI) through its little 2 litre motor and the other little motors are similar. Money saved on the triton could get tune, Lift kit, tyres and front bull bar.

We are looking at the gls and test drove it and found no vibration issues or low speed wobbles, I drove a 3.2l ml and that! Has drive shaft wobbles. Interior is well made and of higher quality that most of these it’s out there. Lots of safety features and good balance of power and economics . It will 100% tow 3tonne easy! My ml tows 2, 5tonne and isn’t the best but has Less power that the new Triton so it will be just fine! Lol so harsh man 😅🤣 I think you should give your own opinion and not try to Side with people online

I reckon you own a lux or a ranger, and if not why did you pick what you bought, price, features, bigger engine etc etc?

4wd Superselect has nothing to do with rocky roads or sand that's the terrain mode on 4wd Low, Superselect gives the ability to the Triton to use 4wd on sealed roads while most of the other utes(if not all) won't allow you 4wd on asphalt,
The payload capacity shows the true numbers of what a UTE can carry and Triton is way up there with "true" figures a way better UTE than Hilux which sadly doesn't live up to the "hype" besides the fancy badges on the tail "rugged" etc....

Not a bad review Ev. It’s no 3.2ML . Bring back the 3.2 and I may upgrade.
