You'd be forgiven for thinking the 2019 Mitsubishi Triton is an all-new model, because how it looks has changed so dramatically. Underneath that updated sheetmetal however, you'll find it's the same base platform that's been underpinning the range since 2015.

To that end, we've bought along the CarAdvice Triton from ou behind the camera, and thurst it into the limelight.

You missed out on a few extra features, the MR now comes with an increased wading depth of 600mm, increased ground clearance, bigger shocks and revised front control arms. Regardless good review and the new MR is a very welcomed update and awesome vehicle overall.

Collected mine today and it had 2 days at Ironman. Fitted the new bull bar and it’s made the front a world of difference.
Love the rear locker as standard.

Drove both, the sqaurer front/bonnet on the new one makes it that little harder to see out of. Virtually the same interior on both. A laymen such as myself couldn't find any differences in the way they drive. Saved myself $8k and bought the runout. Tech on the old one was good 3 years ago, so in 3 years time when it's time to replace, I will be happy to get today's technology then. It's a workhorse so, MEH...save myself some hard earned cash for other and coldies FTW.

What is with you people and a digital speedometer!

Spewing Mitsi got rid of that rear power window. That window was always good to have down!
As for the need for digital Speedo? Why?

I have the 2018 L200 doublecab "value" basic version. where i life it is called L200, it got 150 hp and 6 Speed Manual and a rear locker. owning it 1.5 years now and ist quite on Autobahn. i got goodrich allterrain tires on it.
the new Triton/l200 has a to bulky rear Optik and a not so nice front end. i am happy with the 2018 Basic Version.

Like the old version better, not a fan of the new front but the tech is better and now with 6 speed transmission is a good step in the right direction.

It has orange peel paint like all new cars. Defective or just normal now. Bloody embarrassing or am I a bit picky. 🙄

Car advice are not people who give worthwhile advice. Nothing but generic spec sheet readouts.

Still the same as the oldmodel. The cab slopes to the back as if it is carrying a heavy load.

Plus it's Dingo Ugly.
Looks like that new front was an unfinished afterthought. As you said it's really just an upgrade & not a completely redesigned new model. No way is it worth all those extra bucks for what they have done, which was mainly, , deciding at the last minute to wack a new front on what was originally going to be an upgraded MQ & call it an MY.
Take a MY GXL into the bush & watch what happens to that new oversized low hanging front. Just take a fully loaded GLX into a car park with decent speed humps & you will be picking up bits of that dodgy front end.
Mitsubishi got panned for stretching the MN's Tub, and they should get panned for doing the same at the other end with this Frankenstein.
