The Most Powerful Solar Storm in History and Why It Matters for Our Civilization

In this episode, we explore the new discovery of a giant solar storm that occurred 14,300 years ago, which was much more powerful than the Carrington Event of 1859, the most severe geomagnetic storm ever recorded in history. We also discuss the consequences of a giant solar storm for modern technology and society, and what we can do to prepare for future solar storms. We use ancient tree rings, scientific data, and space weather models to explain this fascinating topic and why it’s important for our civilization.

Chapters:
00:00 Introduction
01:20 How did the scientists discover this giant solar storm?
03:47 What are the consequences?
05:55 What can we do to prepare for future solar storms?
08:42 Outro

On a side note: Since solar storms can produce magnetic storms in Earth’s magnetosphere, which in turn affect the amount of C14 in the atmosphere, which affects the amount of C14 in organic tissues, this means that C14 has varied over time. How does this affect the accuracy of C14 dating?

The things happening on Earth at this moment, I wouldn't be surprised if this didn't happen shortly!

I’m more concerned with our nuclear reactors. If a tsunami could almost create a meltdown then what will happen if the largest solar storm hits earth and all the reactors go into meltdown?

Mankind is now able to detect and prepare for Solar Storms, even it the warning may become significant only a few dozen hours before storm particles hit the Earth, that should allow for countermeasures to be activated. The power distribution companies SHOULD have prepared plans to disconnect all long-range power transmission grids to isolate power grids into small, localized areas to minimize damage to e.g. high-voltage transformers. For localities that are sensitive to such precautions (insufficient power available for local grids to maintain normal operations) it is better to ration or even switch off power for a couple of days, preventing damage to transformers, than the total loss of power for months or even years.
Damaged high-voltage transformers take a LONG time to be replaced, they are custom-built pieces of infrastructure, and replacing a significant number of transformers will take months, even years.

All through 4 billion years, atmosphere and slightly above was empty. Now, that area has 1000s of metal items there. This a heat magnet for sun plasma. Hope.

Isn't this type of phenomenon possible at any time?
If it is meant to be, it will be.
Because of this, it's just best that we learn to live in the moment and enjoy every moment.
If we learn how to just love our fellow humans and not let the powers that be keep separating us, then we will be able to live in harmony with each other and learn to love the life that we have... Just saying

The health effects are also very real. Charged particulates play havoc with electrochemical processes of all living things.

I was following space weather on the tube years ago like 2008-2009. but where is it gone now????
why was it cancelled?

If posible to use those beams for creating energy would change a lot but the powergrids have to update for that first

You forgot the most important. Another thing we can do to protect ourselves is to pray ... 🙏

Question: Would extreme solar storms have anything to do with the reversal of earth's magnetic field????

first rainstorm this year in Bangkok (a really heavy one), I will never look at it the same again. I used to think it was beautiful, now I am scared of it.

All of you who published your work, in your chase 7 months back from today, feels like "fortune tellers" predicting the world. Respect to your research and care to pass on the knowledge!

Solar storms come without (much) warning. How the average person, who wouldn't even know it's happening, avoid traveling or being outside during a solar storm?

Thanks for explanation of how to derive past radiations, though preparing for a ten times stronger carrington event with the present electric grids is shear impossible.. have to prepare for years of misery and starvation.

Suspicious0bservers has tons of video's on this very subject. He has published books. If we get another Carrington level event or higher then we will be looking at Little House on the Prairie meets the Hunger Games... A plasma ejection will ionize the atmosphere and fry every single chip it reaches. No surge arrestor is fast enough for this stuff. One moment after is a book written by Foerster and it details exactly what could happen if that happens. Cars stop, planes will fall out of the sky, satellites in space will burn out. Its a very interesting subject to do some research on.

Thank you for such a great video!
I never heard of that giant storm until now...thats crazy!
I thought it was perfect the way it was explained how something like that would affect us humans today.
Be safe all

A solar storm of that magnitude made for BRILLIANT aurorae all the way to the equator! Even at the equator, the said aurorae were bright enough to be seen in broad daylight!
