How to Stay Safe When a Solar Storm Hits the Earth

Показать описание
A solar storm is a series of effects we feel here on Earth after certain events occur on the Sun. When these solar storms reach our planet, we can see northern lights display in locations close to the Arctic Circle. Some of these solar storms can be dangerous, and back in 2012, we came close to experiencing a very powerful one that could have had a serious outcome. The most powerful in as much as 150-plus years, based on research done by astronomers. So, how did we manage to survive it, then?

Aurora Borealis appears frequently in nothern Alberta Canada. Sometimes they are extremely bright. Nothing happens. The view is so mesmerizing. It looks like enormous curtains waving in a breeze. Every love song in my memory comes to life in synchronization with the silent light.

Hawaii wasn't a territory in 1859. It was a sovereign country/monarchy until the US overthrew the monarchy and Queen Lili'uokalani in 1893. The US finally admitted they forcefully took Hawaii away from its native in 1993 when Congress passed the Apology Resolution.

I don't understand though why the title of the video says how to stay safe during a solar storm but all he spoke about is what happens during a solar storm and why.

The thing I'm scared of is that it's almost the end of the year 2024 and I'm watching this now

Useless advice. A strong enough solar storm will destroy low-voltage electronics, regardless of whether they’re plugged in or not. Just build a Faraday cage and put electronics in there.

I have a complete solar generation plant on my home with panels, batteries, and a backup generator. I don’t believe for one second I’m immune to a strong CME powerful enough to take out the grid.

By solar storm, do you mean a Coronal Mass Ejection? Because the "proton storm" hits the Earth and is done, and you don't really know it's coming until it's here...

We had a strong magnetosphere in 2012. Now our magnetosphere has weakened since 2012.

Electronics are still susceptible to a solar flare even if unplugged.
