I have three kids. When I had my first I was surprised to find out the nurses do all of it and dr only comes in to catch the baby and stitch if necessary and bam they’re gone lol

Nurses are amazing ❤

Ain’t this the truth. My OBGYN was great; he was attentive and helped a lot through my pregnancy. As soon as my son was born, he was outta there! I went to see him for a checkup after and I had my newborn son in the stroller. The doc didn’t even acknowledge him! I said “hey look at the baby you helped be born” he looked at my baby and said “yes. cute” and then proceeded to be an OBGYN lol

When I delivered my daughter, the nurses were tending to me as I practiced a few pushes, then when she was literally about to crown, the OB walks in with a Sprite in his hand, says “We ready to do this?”, pops on some scrubs, delivers my daughter (with my husband helping, which was sweet), then made sure I was good to go before busting out of there HAHA. She came fast, so he was in there for probably 15 minutes. He was great, but those nurses were the ones who were really glued to my side 🤣

I guess I was blessed with one of the best Doctors ever then! My Doctor stayed at the hospital the whole time I was in labor. He delivered all 6 of my kids and right after he would stay for quite a while making sure I was ok and baby was ok. He treated all his patients like that. ❤

My mom said when I was born I pretty much birth myself. By the time the nurse went to get the doctor I was already coming out. The nurse had to run and catch me. Only thing the doctor did was just check my mom to make sure she was ok down there. Even though he was the doctor for all of us my nurse name is on my birth certificate

My doctor didn’t leave soon as my son was born. But he has been my doctor since I was 19. He was there emotionally for my daughters birth and death. He helped make sure that my son would make it home. He watched me like a hawk watching a chicken. Along with an amazing high risk team. He even post pone his vacation couple days after he parked me in the hospital for 5 weeks on bed rest. I guess this is why he is number 1 ob in my area.

This has always blown my mind ever since I gave birth! Nurses never get the credit they deserve or the pay and it breaks my heart that they don’t the doctor is literally only there to catch the baby (and if something goes wrong)

I only saw my doctor when she was delivering my baby. Like the very last second. Then she checked up on me once. I thought she was gonna be more involved but she wasn’t

So true story. When I was born, the nurse caught me as I literally just came out into the world. My mom didn’t even need to push. My mom will say that I shot out but I think her body just pushed me out. The nurse got her up on a birthing table, lifting her skirt and said all right, let’s see what’s going on and came back up holding me. Just as she was handing me to my mother, the doctor came in the room putting gloves on. He said oh, I guess you guys don’t need me anymore. Then he turned around and walked right out. And then he still had the nerve to charge my parents!😂

With both babies my OB's came in a little before I started pushing and coached me through (I had epidural both times), they stitched me up only needed 2 stitches both times #blessed😭, and they stayed until they got mine and babies vitals and were sure I was ok before leaving and letting nurses do the after care and cleanup. And I ended up being checked on once a day by my ob until the day I left the hospital. Very thankful to them both❤️

Mine checked in once during labor to break my water because it wasn’t on its own, left until the next day, came back for a check in at 5 cm and then back again an hour later to deliver, then checked on me once a day after that as I was in the hospital for two days after delivering. He’s getting ready to retire as an OB and just do gyno work, but he really cares about patients, just not a fan of the baby part after lmao. I loved all my L&D nurses ❤ they really do create and nurture the birth experience for patients more than anyone else involved by far!

#2 baby- they had someone in the parking lot watching for the doctor to arrive. I was wheeling to delivery (1983) while he parked. He yelled at me for not pushing out baby with first push. He caught baby handed him off. Quickly stitched episiotomy and left. Maybe 10 minutes.

I remember being at an 8 the nurse said she was calling the doctor I asked if she was in the hospital she informed me she lived 20 minutes away and said really all the doctors do is catch the babies.

Honestly, I remember all the names of my nurses and midwives who helped me during and after birth. The doctors are just vague figures that were in and outta there. Nurses are the real MVPS!

I had a nurse practitioner midwife and she was there the entire time and even visited when we went to his pediatrician that she recommended
