Is FORMULA 1 too BRUTAL?

Is F1 the HARSHEST sport in the world? It is no secret that F1 is a brutal sport in many ways but recently we have seen Daniel Ricciardo replaced by Liam Lawson as well as Logan Sargeant replaced by Liam Lawson. This has made many F1 fans wonder whether F1 teams are sometimes too harsh on their drivers. These F1 drivers have a lot of pressure on them, especially when you have young F1 rookies stepping into the car for the first time and are expected to perform almost immediately.

Any Pro Sport is brutal. Also, there are only 20 drivers for the seat so if you don't produce a result you're out UNLESS your dad owns the team or sponsor are behind you.

Lets not forget, 2024 was the first season *IN F1 HISTORY* that saw no changes to the driver lineups across all teams. What we're seeing now at the end of the season and into 2025 is a bit of correction to that.

Yes! It definitely is a brutal sport, not just on rookies but almost all the drivers go through enormous pressure situations (except Stroll ofcourse)!!

Not if your dad owns a team and is basically trying to buy u a championship but otherwise yeah it is rightfully brutal.

19 F1 drivers will be feeling pressure, one driver wont since daddy owns the team..

Tbh i dont think its brutal enough. Theres so many drivers way past their prime and the teams are scared of giving the young ones a chance.

Paul Di Resta did 3 seasons with Force India in 2011 to 2013. Andre Lotterer did one race filling in for someone and he is smashing it in WEC

Williams having Lafiti 3 years and 2 years Sargent... But Colapinto isn't "good enough" for a seat... Bearman in the second fastest car in grid did a P7 single race, and that was enough for a full contract. Colapinto was ahead in F2 ranking of Bearman and Antonelli... But he is the Only one that has not a seat for 2025. The price of not born in Europe.

10 teams, 20 seats. The entry level for any of those seats is daunting.
The money you receive from FIA is mostly driven by points received.

Then there’s the sponsored driver issue. To me that’s the bigger issue.

But the rookies this year give me hope. I think the future is bright for F1.
Now if the pit drama could end, it would be a great finish for this year.

Nah, there are only 20 seats available, even if we had a 24, 26-car grid, that’s still a tiny number of opportunities for racing drivers to drive in the top level of motorsport. This ain’t a kindergarten, if you’re not good enough, you’re out because there are always drivers queuing up to try and get a shot.

Understand that poor performance can lead to losing a seat, BUT, why don’t the media highlight the failure of the team to manage what they are responsible to do. For example, wrong tyre strategy, bad engineering, poor set up. How about the so called experts illustrate lap times during the race between various drivers and team mates. They highlight mistakes on the track by the driver——get stuck in to the team for their cockups. If you qualify badly because of a team call on strategy, you have no chance of moving up with these cars. How about querying teams as to how much they save on salaries by moving drivers on. Get the new drivers in and you don’t have to pay them as much as an experienced driver.

You can't be as bad as Ricciardo was for 3 years and expect to keep getting away with it. He had his chance.

I think newcomers to the sport don’t understand how F1 or Motorsport fully works and why drivers come and go constantly

As of the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, there have been 777 Formula One drivers from 41 different nationalities who have raced in at least one of the 1, 119 FIA World Championship races since the first such event, the 1950 British Grand Prix. Only 34 have won a World Drivers Title.Yes, it is a brutal sport.

Over the past three decades F1 has become not just the most technological but the most global sport there is, and its expensive! The drivers aren't just drivers anymore...they have to be absolutely everything...engineers, reporters, models, ambassadors, CEO's and still be able to actually tip an F1 car into the best corners on earth, at speeds that would scare an astronaut! It's tough, and those 20 seats are the best and most expensive on the planet! You can't just throw anyone in and hope they fit.

It's not that F1 is brutal - it's that the rules don't apply across the board, especially when money, power and influence come in.

It could be better... e.g. better planned f1 calendar, more thought into goodbye posts...
