This video should get your started with Windows 8 (on a desktop computer). The first half of the video covers basics (mostly) and we get into some nerdier stuff in the second half.

This is for both new users and power users.

Windows 8 is great. Even without the 8.1 update i loved it. Its extremely quick, fast boot up, for me there is nothing wrong with it.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I just wanted to point out something; you don't need to access charms and click search to find an app in the new start menu, you simply need to start typing.

Ok I have and have been using Start8 for 30 days now and LOVE it.

You guys at Tek Syndicate apparently didn't go into the " settings" of Start8 and tweak how you wish everything about it to behave.

:)

Trust me. dive into those settings good man. You'll be glad you did.

Mine is set to act EXACTLY like Windows 7 start menu EXCEPT the square ish feel.

& i gotta say.. Win8 really isnt as bad as I thought it'd be. Its mainly just the metro interface you have to get used to. its got its pros and cons just like anything else.

I agree in many ways of what you are saying, and bid you a farewell and a good rest of the day as well.

windows 8 survival guide: get windows 8.1 or download a start button program.

Don't listen to everyone saying windows 8 sucks. Windows in general sucks, but it's what gamers have to deal with. In the end windows 8 is more stable than windows 7 so...

I bought a new computer a week ago with Windows 8. I heard all the negative comments but I have to say although I don't know all the tricks yet I find it is not bad at all. Just different but I like it!

I have Windows 8 on my laptop and to be honest, I like it. It's really good. It's definitely different, but in a good way for what I need it to do. Nothing has been difficult yet. In terms of usability and interface, I give it a thumbs up. Owning one made the difference for me.

Hey Jay, the fact that the start screen is designed for a touch interface is undeniable. Yet what is also undeniable is the fact that the standby modem computer will be a thing of the past in the next 10-15 years. If you haven't noticed mobility is the core of the computer market in the present and it shows no signs of moving. So unless you want to lug around your modem and display everywhere, tablets and laptops will still remain small and portable while gaining power and capacity each year.

Thank You! This is the most informative video I have found on how to begin navigating Windows 8. I've been a Mac user for past 7 years, but still need know-how on Windows. Until I found your video I've been referring to it as Window POS.Out of the box this version of Windows is the most non-intuitive piece of software I've ever seen. Heck, 3.1 was better! Thanks for the help and tips.
