I first made & uploaded this video on my old channel some 7-8 years ago, back in the good old days of 240p. So I decided to make it again, in better quality.
Rest in peace Ray Manzarek (1939-2013) & Jim Morrison (1943-1971)

The Doors: Jim Morrison-vocals, Ray Manzarek-keyboards, Robby Krieger-guitar, John Densmore-drums.
Studio albums: The Doors (1967), Strange Days (1967), Waiting for the Sun (1968), The Soft Parade (1969), Morrison Hotel (1970), L.A. Woman (1971)

If Jim Morrison was a poet, Ray Manzarek was a storyteller. Amazing details.

The most tragic part of this story... is how John, Robbie, and Ray kept playing and staying sharp as a band. Just waiting for Jim to walk in that door, alive...

I met Ray and his wife shopping in LA around 2001. He could not have been a nicer guy.

My three year old daughter loves Jim. When she wants to hear the doors, she tells me to "put on Jim." She won't go to bed unless her doors CD is playing. I have no idea why of all the music I listen to, she latched onto Jim, but I understand it. Rest easy, Jim, and thank you for sharing yourself with the world.

Ray Manzarek had one of the best speaking voices ever, so eloquent and great tonality. R.I.P

Make no mistake, without Ray Manzarek there would not have been "The Doors." As he is doing here, he was constantly covering for Morrison's inability to stay sober or honor commitments. At one concert where Morrison was too loaded to perform, Manzarek sang the whole thing. But Ray knew the Lizard King's dark charisma was central to the band's identity. I admire him for keeping it together for as long as he did.

It’s hard to comprehend that Ray is gone now too. He was a very smart man

Ray was the heart of the Doors. Jim was the soul.

I always felt bad for Ray. He was just waiting for Jim to get back from Paris.

Dude, The fact that the last song Jim recorded with the doors was Riders on the storm is hauntingly beautiful and poetic.

LONG LIVE THE DOORS!!!

Saw ray live in Dublin “An evening with Ray Manzarek” front row. It was a little jazz lounge. Played all the doors songs and told the whole story of the doors. The whole audience sang along with him as he played. He also played personal songs he wrote for him after he died. At the end I got to shake his hand. Great time in my life

The fact ray says, "I don't think we're ever gonna know what happened to jim in Paris" makes it all the more mysterious

Ray Manzarek was the unsung genius of the band. The video ended but Ray continued talking for 3 more hours.

Ray's a great speaker. "So, Ray... Tell us about the last time you saw Jom..."
Ray - 12 seamless minutes, no prompts, no pauses, no mmmm or uuhhhh.
Excellent. Very sharp mind. RIP Ray (and Jim, of course).

Interesting enough, I had the great pleasure to meet Ray, Robbie and John.  In 2008 I was working as a limo driver, I picked up Ray at S.F. airport and drove him to his home in Napa, CA.  We talked for 1.5 hrs. about his music/and the Doors music.  He and Robbie were reviving many of the Doors tunes, and occasionally John would join them.  Ray talked about Jim and his apparent death, music, poetry and his Shamanic Spiritual path.  In 1969 I met John and Robbie at a Meditation retreat in Squaw Valley (Lake Tahoe).  I play drums and percussion; and about 100 people jammed and danced at nights after our evening meetings.  John, Robbie and myself led the drumming for the dancers.  It was wild fun!  I had a most memorable time!

Ray Manzarek's ability to tell a story is simply mesmerizing.

So sad. We get lost in the mythology of losing these giant artists but forget that people lost their friend.
