Why hasn’t he dreamt of the 6th fucking game already?

And then Jiub _decided_ the dream doesn't *need* cliffracers in it.

When he wakes up, he will see a guy sitting in front of him that will say "Hey you, you're finally awake."

Sounds very lovecraftian, Azathathoth sleeps at the centre of reality and if he wakes everything disappears

Kirkbride singlehandedly made TES lore so expansive and interesting to the point it's one of the most acclaimed fantasy game series ever made. Bethesda hit the jackpot when they brought him on to write for Morrowind.

The team behind Morrowind also did such an amazing job at crafting an RPG, I couldn't imagine what they would be able to make in 2024+ with the ideas and knowledge they have now.

My favourite theory is that M'aiq the Liar is the one dreaming of the universe.

The dream no longer needs it's dreamer.

It’s way more consistent and logical than my dreams

So that's why sometimes the dragons fart fire and giants launch people into the sky.
God just be having funky dreams.

Me and a mate of mine discussed this before. Our theory was that if he would wake, Nirn would dissolve back into oblivion. The towers keep him in his slumber. So the next setting has to be high rock. The Altmeri Dominion wants to wake up, dissolve back into nothingness. But now Talos is a pillar himself, holding up the world on his own. Would be a cool plot imo.

I like to think the unawakened player is the sleeping godhead.

What if i told you that it all actually takes place within a computer program

As pelinal said "it's as if the dream no longer needs the dreamer" hearing this theory? Makes that statement hit more

It's kind of a reflection of the thought exercises like "what if the universe is a simulation" in that it misses the point to think of it as an illusion; if that is the reality that everyone shares them dream, simulation or what have you; doesn't really matter what the nature of it is, all that matters is it's the closest thing to reality we've got.

I should imagine it's similar for the denizens of the Elder Scrolls universe; the fact that their reality is both canonically and metatextually the product of someone's imagination isn't going to matter to someone going about their day to day life.

I prefer the Song theory that says the entire universe is just a song being played, this theory is supported by the fact that Nirnroot, a very powerful and oddly important plant, somehow produces different frequencies

But then again, the all powerful being that is dreaming, is probably just Todd Howard

I think Lorkhan being the dreamer (or even the dreamer inserting themselves to the dream, like a character to “play” in the dream as) would make a lot of sense - he doesn’t die but merely laughs when his heart is ripped out with more than hands and proclaims "This Heart is the heart of the world, for one was made to satisfy the other." He’s called a “dead” god by cultures, but a “‘missing” one by others. Also, Pelinal Whitestrake is largely considered a Shezzarine of some kind (mortal-ish manifestations of Shezzar/Shor/Lorkhan in the Mundus) and when asked what his fits of rage and madness feel like, he gives us the famous words “like when the dream no longer needs its dreamer.”
