It still makes me laugh that the hist tree said to the argonians "You guys see that oblivion gate over there? I don't want it to be there" and the Argonians rushed the Oblivion gate till the Daedra said "Nope" and closed their own gate.

Aside from the obvious statement at the end. My theory is that the Hist Trees are constantly causing the argonians to evolve with each generation in every passing era.

My favourite example of this is the Bright-Throats and the Dead-Water tribes. Or even the Ghost tribe (Veeskhleel). All in the same time frame and all live in Murkmire.
I think the hist tree makes a big difference. Imo hist trees are like people, with preferences and personalities traits of their own.
