Growing up in Honolulu, we had 19 plumeria trees in our front yard. The fragrance in the evening breeze is one of my fondest childhood memories.

I just transplanted my plumeria and it looks very healthy. But, the main stem that goes into the ground is green like a vine and not bark color like yours. Is that because it’s a cutting? Too much water maybe?

I water my Plumeria almost daily in summer in Zone 8 a!

Summing this up in one comment… just stick it in the ground. That’s it. Don’t even do anything to it!

I live in Michigan and have a plumeria that I purchased in Hawaii as a stem. it is growing well but the stem is slightly soft at the base. I am worried. The soil is mixed as suggested and well drained. I water it 1x mth until it comes out the sides. I placed a grow light on it during the day. The leaves are strong. Is it my understanding that I need to stop all of that through the winter and just let it sit in a dimmed area until spring? Let it dry out?
Please advise I really don't want to lose it.

Do you mean potting soil or potting mix? I read that they are different. Also, do you guys have any CA sunset plumerias?

IMPORTANT QUESTION. My plumerias have been very strange lately. The smaller sprouts have browning and yellowing leaves, and the bigger ones have small grey spots on the leaves. a few leaves have teeth-looking indents in the middle part of the leaf. Info: i use rocks and soil as the potting mix, i live in a dry area, and i don't water them too often. What could be going on?

TUDah RBaH (thank you very much, in Hebrew). // SHLM & HaB (peace & love). The Name of the Creator is Hayah Asher Hayah, as what He told Moshah (Exodus 3:14), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. There is a curse to the G-o-d name (Isaiah 65:11-12), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. All followers of the Messiah are to do the 7 appointed times (Leviticus 23), but no more animal sacrifices, following the Crucifixion of the Messiah. We are now of the order of MLK TSDQ (King, righteous), to Whom ABRaHM tithed. Ask the Messiah to be your personal Savior. He said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). ...for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of Hayah (Romans 3:23). The wages for sin is death but the gift of ALaHYM is Everlasting Life through Messiah Yahushgh our Master (Romans 6:23). That if you confess with your mouth the Master Yahushgh and believe in your heart that ALaHYM raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved (Romans 10:9). He Himself is an Atoning Offering for our sins, and not for ours only but also for all the world (1 John 2:2).

Hi Suzanne, I'm a fairly experienced self-taught home gardener from Lake Charles, LA where we enjoy a warm subtropical climate here, almost warm enough to sustain plumerias in the ground outside. We do have an occasional light freeze, so I'm OK with growing them in pots. That way, I can scoot them inside in case of an overnight frost.
Last year, I bought some rootless plumeria cuttings from a vendor off of Etsy. Despite all the precautions I took, they all rotted! This year, I'm not taking any chances. I will order one that's already been ROOTED so I can hit the ground running. Now, I'm faced with making a decision as to what "flavor" (color, or variety) to choose. Any suggestions? 🪴🌴

Well done. I would like to know if "notching " will encourage branching on my plumeria plants?

My Plumeria grew so tall that it started to fall over. It sounds like I can cut the length down without killing the plant.
