Pineapple is an EASY plant to grow if you give it what it needs. In Part 1 of my pineapple growing guide, we'll cover basic care requirements for pineapples, along with pineapple propagation from the ratoons, or pups that form at the base of the mother plant.

What should I name my lil' pineapple babies?

I love your nonchalant attitude & the way that you talk to the camera like we’re your neighbors. Not talking down to anyone. Relaxed 😎. Love it cat.

I actually started my pineapples from a drilled out top. The top never grew but after about 3 months i got 2 ratoons to shoot out and that is what i have been growing over the last 14 months and their huge

Thank you for this informative video! I live in a cold climate (zone 5/6) and managed to grow a pineapple from the top of a fruit i bought from the grocery store. 4 years later it's 30 in tall and one of my favourite plants in the house

Mark from Self Sufficient Me is awesome. For the longest, you two were the only two channels I watched.

Can’t wait to see your progress. I’m in Florida, I love seeing pineapples in the landscapes here. We just inherited a few large pineapple plants. Looking forward to watching them.

For people who don’t know when you buy a pineapple at the store you can check the bottom few leaves and pull them off and or look between them to see if there’s roots those are the best ones to start and also you can just twist the top to take it off a lot of websites say to cut off the top but then you’re left with that fruit stuck to it and it’s annoying— you can just twist it it’s much easier!

This was such a good video. I would love to see part 2. My pineapple I started 3 years ago is budding and suckers and ratons as well. Seeing this video gave me an understanding of my plant so I will be able to care for the growth and make new plants as well. Woohoo! Part 2 please!

I'm a home pineapple grower and pretty impressed by your can't help but it Call It Puppy, so small so cute and so flipping enthusiastic about propagation.
The lean is because it's top-heavy. 😁 And those leaves with small teeth that lacerate and hypodermic sharp needle points demand respect.
It'll be really interesting to see what comes of your experiments. I hope it's not rude to call it that. I've been growing pineapples for 20 years and something new always comes along and I experiment. Last year's Harvest was something I've never seen the like of. A baker's dozen shoots Fanning out around the bottom of the fruit. 😆

My daughter bought me a pineapple plant about 2 years ago with the fruit. I am so-oooo enjoying it. I finally cut the fruit off, removed the top, and the mother and top are doing well. I grew the top in water. But when I finally planted it, it started turning yellow/brown. Gave it to my neighbor in hopes she can save it.(She's better with plants than I am)

About 2 months ago I discovered baby on my mother plant! It's growing strong and rather fast. Thanks to you and your video, you showed me how to remove the baby! I hope I can continue to grow the "pup"! What fun!

I grew several pineapples from cut tops in my Southern California yard a number of times. It really took 1-1/2 years to get a fruit out of the plant. One of the plants grew two fruits. I had it in the ground in the garden and one in a large 20" flower pot.

I'm at about 9 months of my pineapple top growing. New growth all the time. She is just in regular potting soil but I'm in Florida so she is out year 'round. We covered her on the few chilly days we had, but otherwise, she is in a container and just up on a stand so she stays well drained. She has easily trippled in size from the top. Can't wait to see what year 2 brings us with our pineapple plant!

This was a great video! I started growing a pineapple plant by using the crown from a grocery store pineapple last June or July because my son loves it! I told him that it would take about two years to fruit. I’m happy to report that my plant is doing really well and I keep it on a window sill where it gets sun all day, but I think I now need to repot it. Please keep us posted!

My neighbour two doors down was furtively growing one in a pot right outside his gate hidden behind some taller plants lol. It was already huge when I noticed it was there and I enjoyed watching it ripen day by day. One day I went outside and noticed they had harvested it. It looked delicious
