Free & easy way to hack new life into old blue jeans. Turn them into smash bags or utility bags. This tutorial shows how I made these special bags with handles/closures for free using repurposed materials. I'm using mine for turning lump charcoal into small pieces for alternative uses. A second bag is being used for tools but it can be easily switched up for transporting cold drinks and much more. Awesome Hack for Pants has many possible uses.

Basic Materials Required:
* Old pair of jeans (other pants can work too)
* Para cord
* Kite string

What is a Smash Bag? I'm glad you asked. If you've ever needed to crush something like charcoal, rock salt, plaster, rocks, etc. then you know how much of mess it can make. You also know how hard it is to use any kind of bag to contain such stuff when you are trying to beat it to a pulp with a mallet or hammer. That is precisely what my Smash Bag is for. Put the stuff to break up in a smash bag and whack away without concern of obliterating the bag.

Thanks Mom😁, I did not comment originally. But,
My hubby is a journeyman electrician and his Klein bags were falling apart. Last weekend, I went with your jean idea, but I made an envelope so to speak and glued the Klein bag inside (for the ones that were not that bad).
You can not beat super hot glue with material almost fuses the two together.
I did actually make one anew with a double thick bottom and used the heavy duty zipper from the bag that was the worst. I found out my sewing machine I picked up for 5$ from a yard sale was a good heavy duty machine, it went through all 6 layers. I was impressed.
Once again thanks for sharing your ideas.
By the way, ou've got a great radio voice.
