These launches so far are quite worrying. I was hoping to upgrade from my 2060 to a 4070/7800, but these high prices aren't very appealing.

Nvidia: watch us mess this GPU launch up
AMD: hold my beer…

As a Linux user that prefers a midrange system... What makes the most sense to me seems to be an Intel GPU.
Wow. Just... wow. What a time to be alive.

Nvidia should put AMD on their payroll at this point. I wish there was a way to tell how many people went to the 4080 after the 7900 launch

Between Nvidia's price gouging and burning cables, AMD's spontaneous graphics combustion, and Intel Arc's... Intel Arc, 2022 was a wild ride for GPUs.

Another example of why buying reference cards are not your best buy.

You forgot to say that after changing it from Vertical to Horizontal (and having the runaway thermals) *and* you change it back to vertical, *temperatures don't drop.* This is how he came to the logical conclusion that the vapour chamber is the root cause. AMD gets away with the _a number_ or _some_ GPU's suffering qualifier because a) some customers are not savvy enough to notice the junction/hotspot temperature and are simply unaware of the issue, or b) A percentage of users are already vertically mounting the GPU.

After 15 hours playing on rx 7900 XT reference model

No issue so far junction temp never went above 85

The good thing It's not the GPU die nor the PCB, don't know how this passed QC though, who knows how muhc of the stock has been effected, at this point they might have even fixed the issue for next batches. However it is recomended just sticking to Asus, Saphire or MSI's version of vapor chamber when they be available.

We can only hope Intel stays aggressive in pricing and starts competing at the 70 series level.

So much AMD hype before launch. So much disappointment after launch. So predictable.

I am really glad my sapphire 7900xtx card wasnt experiencing the thermal issues despite being horizontally mounted. I got lucky i guess. Still it was disappointing to hear. Especially since I just switched over from Nvidia after all these years to give AMD a shot 😔 if this continues AMD will just keep bleeding market share, even if their cards are better value after driver improvements like the 6000 series

I cant even afford last gen gpus so maybe in 10 years i'll be concerned about temps. Also my new years resoloution is still 1080p 😢

Since I upgraded to 6600xt the pc sound has been cutting at times. Never noticed it with the 1070.

I couldn’t be more happier with my 4080, 63 degrees max, closed, insane cooling capacity and very low power consumption.

Don't worry AMD is just going to send every RX 7900 XTX users a $3 riser cable for free. This way they can put the video card outside of their case vertically 😅

The general rule for amd GPUs still holds, don't buy the reference version if possible.

Not buying a video card for years, I just got a 3070, and I expect it to last me to at least 2025.

Consumers validates high prices by buying at those prices. There's no reason for AMD/Intel/Nvidia to reduce prices while consumers are willing to pay more for less, each year.

1000 dollars cards will be the norm.

Nice. Missed HotNews for a few days. Edit: Happy New year sir. My opinion of AMD hasn't changed over the 7900XTX. They still make great products. My problem is that the 7900XTX was a good deal if it competed with a 4090. It doesn't. It shouldn't be more than 700 bucks. It's not Industry leading performance. Same with the 4080. Should be 700 bucks. It isn't Industry leading performance.
