Diane Morgan on Mandy | BFI Q&A

Diane Morgan, director, writer and star of the hit BBC comedy series Mandy, visits BFI Southbank to talk about the new series.

The nation’s hero of the zero-hours economy returns in another series that follows Mandy’s micro-aggressive adventures as she battles her cost-of-living crisis with a number of short-lived, ill-thought-through and poorly paid jobs. Once again, Diane Morgan writes, directs and stars in the series, and is joined by faces old, new and somewhere in-between.

This woman is one of the funniest people on earth. Her characters are so original, likable, just the best. I can’t wait to see more of Mandy.

Mandy was the first "sitcom" to make me laugh out loud in about 14 years. Thank You, its an awesome show.

The thing about Mandy (the character) is there's no malice in her. She's not a saint but she's a relatively nice person just minding her own business. Far too many writers think their comedy characters need to be mean to be funny. Especially when it comes to "chavvy" characters (for want of a better word). Kudos to Diane for this funny character.
