Garage Door Repair - won't stay closed or go down

It's a really easy fix and the things I show in the video should repair nearly 100% of garage doors that won't stay closed.
Obviously, make sure nothing is blocking the sensors. Then make sure the sensors are pointing straight. If those things don't fix it, then look to make sure the tracks are not too tight against the rollers.

I am a 72 year old widow, just about ready to call the repair man. I watched your video and went out and fixed my door. You just save me a minimum of $75 and I am so grateful!

I'm a 65 year old woman who has ZERO handy man skills. .MY garage door had issues over the weekend. Your video was very well prepared, to the point, with all the information needed. I fixed the door in under 20 minutes without having to call a neighbor or pay an after hours service fee. I'm thrilled and appreciate this wonderful instructional video. I hope you have more.I have now subscribed to your DIY you tube videos. Thank you Adam very much. Who says you can't teach an old dog new Martha G.

Garage door suddenly was not closing. Parents were worried we'd have to call a technician or something. I immediatley went on youtube, found this video, tried adjusting the sensors and anything that could be blocking and voila the garage door went down. Very easy to understand and love how you should everything close up. Thanks Adam!

You're a star Adam! My boyfriend now thinks I'm a genius because he and the guy who installed the doors could not figure out how to do it even though they read the manual and googled for information. When I told him I think I know what needs to be done "Trust me on this", he asked me to wait until he gets home. When he got home last night he told me that he didn't want me to interfere with it, because the same guy who couldn't figure it out the first time was coming back to rewire the door opener. So to prove how confident I was in the information u gave me, I waited for him to leave home. Lol I simply reprogrammed the one that was being activated by both remotes so that it canceled that particular remote and reactivated the one I wanted to control it. I did just what u said, tested both remotes after and now they work like a champ. Thank u so much! Everything is now functioning correctly.

I have watched dozens of videos and your's was the first to talk about rubbing on the rails. After watching your video I fixed my garage in two minutes after days of adjusting every thing you could with the sensors and gains on the motor. THANK YOU

Way to go Adam! My issue was with the wheels hitting the screws on the Track. I would have never thought of that. I added grease to the wheels and then noticed certain screws had grease on them and some didn't and a few wheels had no play in them to slide in and out. So all I did was loosen the nut on the track where the screws hasd grease on them and the wheels were tight, pushed the track about 1/8" to 1/4" outwards using a crowbar and that worked like a charm!!! You saved me a service fee and hours of trying to troubleshoot it myself! You da Man!

Adam, thanks for an exceptional video. You helped me to fix my garage door in under an hour without calling a technician. The sensors were fine. however, the wheels were far too tight in the track and I had to adjust the track to provide the wheel adequate room for movement without excessive tension. Thank you!

Holy Crap! Thank you for this video brother! For over a YEAR I had this issue with my garage door. After watching your video and going through my checks, found out that the rails were slightly tight on one side. Loosened it up and now the garage door closed with no problem. THANK YOU!!!

I've had exactly the same issue with my garage door last winter and cost me $120 for 10 minutes work. Today I found your video and learned and saved money thank you.

You rock Adam. I was so frustrated cause I couldn't figure why the door wouldn't go down. Your tip about the rollers too tight to the track did the trick. I think it was the cold winter causing movement of the track. THANKS!!!

Adjusting the camera worked perfectly... Thank you and thank you for taking the time to post this.

this helped me fix a stuck garage door. The cold weather contracted the wood the tracked screws into and the track was pinching the door rollers. Loosened the bolt, pushed the track back, tightened the bolt and presto. Good to go! Thanks!

Your sequence of checks work great! In my case... I realized that it wasn't the roller friction that was causing the door to reverse because it would reverse even when I disconnected the door from the track. It was indeed the sensor alignment.
Thanks!

Excellent video! I checked everything on the list and finally figured out that there some wet leaves that had stuck to the bottom of my garage door, and stuck out just enough to trip the sensors. Once I swiped them off, the door closed perfectly. But I also went through the other steps and cleaned the sensors before discovering this, so maybe it's a little preventive maintenance too. Thank you for sharing your expertise!

O.M.G. it worked. My husband and adult son have been whining about the garage door not staying shut for weeks. I finally got tired of hearing then grumble. So i decided to google and BAM, you said to check the alignment. It worked. thank you.

Thanks so much, Adam! My garage door wouldn't stay shut – it would hit the bottom and open again. Per your video, I cleaned the sensors and solved the problem. I really appreciate your putting this up.
