How to import from excel to Tally?
1. Start Tally ERP and Open a Company.
2. Start udiMagic
3. Select the option "Excel to Tally"
4. Select the option "Import data into Tally"
5. Click the Browse button and select any Standard Excel template provided with udiMagic Software
6. Click the Start button

The udiMagic utility processes the data and imports it from Excel to Tally.

We recently evaluated udi-Magic Software by importing bulk records from Excel to Tally ERP 9. For your reference, here are the results of uploading a sample Excel sheet with 5200 Voucher records :

Excel to Tally ERP 9 performance evaluation

udi-Magic Release : v8.0 R3.4
Time to upload (5200 Voucher records) : 6 min 53 secs

udi-Magic Release : v8.0 R3.5
Time to upload (5200 Voucher records) : 3 min 24 secs

As it can be seen from the above results, udi-Magic v8.0 r3.5 saves considerable time as compared to the previous udi-Magic Release.

Are the Ledgers needed to be created in tally before importing or they get created automatically ?

udi-Magic v8.0 Release 3.4 now supports cash and trade discount feature available in Tally ERP 9 Release 6.1.1. This feature allows you to specify discount value for each item in the invoice, and the discount value is considered as part of the assessable value of the item.
