There was 17 creepers on a counter, not sure if there were before counter started. And good you didn't panic when fighting baby zombie. What a champ!

That's why I go strip mining for diamonds instead of caving, lol. It's actually pretty fast to get diamonds if you mine at the bottom of the world. Villagers are such a pain especially early game. Also you don't find much coal below y:11 anymore though iron does generate a lot at y:11 and diamond at the bedrock level. You can also find iron and coal more frequently above ground on mountain tops instead of below ground nowadays.
