Backcountry Skiing Tips: How to Kickturn

Показать описание
We asked in-house freerider and Gearhead Cam about his tricks of the trade for navigating the skintrack. He goes over techniques for kickturns in pre-existing skintracks, breaking trail, and kickturns in steep terrain. Practice makes perfect when it comes to kickturns, and while every day in the Backcountry is different, these are great strategies to keep in mind as you hone in your kickturns.
Kickturns aren’t the only valuable technique for getting around in the backcountry. Cam also covers detailed tactics for breaking trail in deep snow, and for maintaining skin traction while traversing or side-hilling. It’s also important to note that skin care (climbing skin care, duh) is essential for efficient backcountry travel. We recommend using a skin wax for optimal glide and applying additional skin glue to the adhesive side over time to ensure proper sticking.
